I'm working on adding some more titles to the game. On my 'to do' list, so hopefully wont need a mod for that one :) currently the game has 395 titles; i'm aiming for 1,000.
you must not be doing it correctly. You just copy and paste them into the main directory over the top of the old ones , for each of the three. Do you get the windows message asking if you want to merge/overwrite the current files/folders ?
Thats where it is on my computer anywho.
Here's a list of bad bugs that need to be cleared up theillusionist.
1. The In Development screen needs help. Whenever you have 2+ pages there, the issues crop up. Any time you go into the 2nd (or more pages) of movies and then hit In Development button (either of them), the game thinks you are on page 1 meaning the movies listed are page 2 but the highlight info is for the page 1 movies. This means you have to hit the In Development button again so it goes back to page 1.
2. Once you get the Post-Production facility, you have movies that say they don't have any time in post-production. Great, right? Except you can't do anything with them meaning essentially they have a month in post no matter what. That's annoying enough, but not terrible. However, the game glitches at that point causing the Marketing screen to go wonky where the recommended amount of advertising is $500 MILLION. Not 100% sure if it only happens if you go into that screen when it is in post-production limbo, but I think that is true no matter what.
3. I'd love for the game to have recommendations for the Special FX and CGI because I honestly have no idea how much is good. My first Box Office success (probably going to hit $300 million gross) I think happened because I dumped either $2 or $2.5 million combined (this was in 1928) which was more than the entire production budget of the movie.
4. Is there a manual or help file for the game? I'd love to have some idea of what needs to be done to get a raring start. It seems like you need at least 3 stars worth of all your production stuff to be rated mediocre, and then luck into a huge blockbuster to up it to max.
5. The default # of actors and actressess needs to be doubled. There are some genres that have one or two people listed, and it seems like no matter how awesome they are in adapting to any genre (4 or 5 stars in that skill) you have to have one of them in it to have a successful movie. My next game is going to have the real-life people mod as they have a lot more people, but without that, the game needs more people.
6. Related to #5, you say "Go on a talent search". That has a bug too. I've done it twice, and both the actor and actress have $14 or 15 million salaries listed. I'm not sure they get paid that since they're already assigned to my studio on that 6-movie contract, but those contracts are completely out of whack with everyone else in the game. Not to mention that they are B or C-level actors.
Hope that helps you improve the game.
4. There is no manual but keep an eye out for those little "?" icons spread around everywhere. If you hover over them for 2 seconds a window will appear explaining something. I will add more and more over time to make it a little easier for certain things to be understood though. Also you dont need staff to be extremely high for a blockbuster; I've had a number of films gross over $250 million with staff actually very low. Its mostly to do with the kind of talent you have attached to your film and the money you put into marketing it. 3D tech helps too! Draws the crowds.
5. I am working on this. I have contacted my guy who made my avatars and requested double the number. It might take a while before he is able to complete them but hopefully the database will grow with pictures for everyone within the next month or two. Also you dont have to hire someone specifically for a certain genre. Its true they work better but just because you hire an action star for a comedy does not mean the performance will flop. It will never be as good as someone made for that genre but they wont always give bad performances. Also I wasnt able to include real life people due to legal issues. You need permissions for people's likeness. Mods are a different story though; I cannot be held responsible for what others add to their game ;) Which is why I included the editor. I love playing with real world talent though - it really adds to the game.
6. I will have to tweak this slightly but its completely random. You wont always get C grade talent, in fact I discovered someone with 4-5 stars for every attribute. But you are right for the money thats put into it I will make it a little easier to hire someone good :)
Thanks!
