Everyone in the West agrees, not the original fans who made the game popular.
Censored because they didn't release both versions.
Its all fine and good to have an All Ages version if they had made a full version to go along with it.
Its part of the story whether people like it or not.
Nothing against those who want the adult scenes, but not even everything is meant to have it.
The issue is that they were completely removed.
How does the removal of the h-content impact the story?
Like I said in the other thread, that doesn't mean I don't understand people who find this really important and have no interest in it without a way to get those scenes, like I said there that's up to them. But for me personally them releasing this with or without a patch or toggle doesn't make any difference. The most important thing for me is that I am able to go through the game in English through an official way.
If somebody creates an unofficial patch, great for the people who can't enjoy this without it, but I don't know how long you will have to wait. A game with the pedigree like this one might get one relatively quickly I guess.
It has dialogue, it was in the original story, removing it and any reference to these scenes changes the story,
It also creates emotional differences in these routes.
Ex: Shiori's scene emphasizes her inability to have a normal life and how she feels being treated like a normal girl.
Ex: Mai's scene is also somewhat emotional as the dialogue deals with guilt.
These weren't just "O here is a H image disconnected to everything else in the story", they were part of the story, integrated into the romance.
Also, Key stoped adding H elements to they games because even the Japanese agreed Maeda's scenes didn't added nothing to the game itself at least on the first titles (and I don't think removing sex removes romance at all)
Just because you don't like it and you think it was forced doesn't mean that is the case.
Also I've never heard any Japanese fan say that this stuff shouldn't have been in the story.
Plenty of anime stories are spirituous, fun and cute and still have such scenes.
Furthermore, Key didn't only have H stuff or fanservice in their first titles.
The last ones were Kud Wafer (2013) and Rewrite (2014).
They've always done a mix of safe and spicy.
A lot more safe now but if they want to bring back old ones for sale then its just courteous to make two versions like they always did. A safe one and a spicy one.
You can argue all you want till you are blue in the face that all of that just amounts to "self censorship" but the simple fact at the end of the day is that the creators control their own product and will do what they deem necessary to protect their image or profits. People want to throw around the word censored because its an easy to digest boogieman term to vilify why someone is doing something they dont like. It has a nice ring to it that evokes some man in the shadows blocking out media with a giant black marker while he cackles and kicks puppies. The truth is more mundane. The simple fact is having a product that you can sell to a wider market that isnt held back by restrictions on who can buy or see it makes a hell of a lot more sense in the market now than it did back then. Back in the 90s and early 00s when a lot of these games were made it was marketed toward and sold SOLELY to the japanese otaku crowd in japan. It was an incredibly niche market and they didnt have to think about how much of a broad appeal it would have because by nature of what they were they didnt have broad appeal. In 2024 that is not the case anymore.
No need to sperg out. I never said "DONT BUY THE GAME ITS CENSORED".
All I said is if you want the full original content then wait for a patch. If you don't care about that then just buy it.
And no this is still censorship.
No idea why me saying "Hey you might want to wait" led to all of you coming in with "It was bad anyway!" or "the market is different now get over it!".
If you are fine with this content being absent then just enjoy it.
Its probably a reaction to all the absolute weirdos that constantly spam BOYCOTT whenever something comes out that even remotely maybe kind of possibly offends their persecution complex. The kinds of discussions and people that want to "discuss" censorship are usually the kind that froth at the mouth and demand absolutely insane ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥. All while not actually grasping what censorship actually means and why it is or is not present in any given context. It still honestly just drives me up the wall to see a bunch of people moan and complain about a company choosing to do something to their own game for their own reasons without being forced to do so and calling it censorship.
There are simply far too many "purists" and run around acting like perfect arbiters of truth and justice that simply cannot and will not recognize that a company or creator can change or modify their work however they see fit and are justified to do so no matter what that reason is. Instead they want to see any edits or changes or omissions as some kind of evil force or something. Its just really silly.
Like it or not the OP and your other posts in this thread reads more like a post from one of those guys than any semi reasonable argument. They dont have to justify not making an 18+ version or patch or whatever. Not officially releasing them isnt censorship except in the most extremely nitpicky banal way especially considering that steam allows 18+ content and it was simply a choice for whatever probably boring reason they had.
