I don't want a rotten simulated screen blur
A friend of mine once owned a Vectrex, so i remember that device.

1. It's set too high. When i was young, and a friend had a Vectrex console, the blur was considerably less.
2. i want to play without. Because:
3. When we were young, fantasy made up A LOT for missing details. I am beyond 50 now, so fantasy is weak now, and i prefer sharp images over blur-ruined game object trash. It's enough low detail already, don't ♥♥♥♥ it up with blur we don't need. Childhood does NOT come back by bluring the screen.

5. My eyes alredy blur the screen, and glasses are a hurting crudge, no replacement, and no fix.

6. Supply an option for locally turning it off completely and permanently.

Thanks for reading. Until notice, i will wait with purchase.

This is how the game looks like with the detail slider turned all the way down:

Menu > Display > Gain (max), Gamma (max), Quality (slider all the way down to cheap) > Vector Display method set to "V99 EXTRAFINE", bottom setting set to "REDUCED MOTION". This is the sharpest settings I've found for easy clarity. You're welcome ;D

Aside from the V99 EXTRAFINE mode, some of the other modes with the settings above are quite nice as well. I'm fond of TEKTRONIX 4014, and TENEBRESCENT as well. TENEBRESCENT with the settings above looks like you are playing on an Etch-a-Sketch :D

Everyone keeps throwing "Vectrex" around when discussing this game, but I've always got the impression that it's meant to resemble an oscilloscope game like Spacewar, with the bloom and glitchiness suggestive of that early art of running games on devices that weren't designed to produce graphics at all.

As others have said, though, finer control of the aesthetic is there if you want it.

1. Obvious to us here, the point was not about getting rid of by reducing quality.
2. Whatever the source of the style is, the Vectrex device had a quite similar screen and drawing method, while not that bad. Therefore, association/citation is well justified.

The "detail" slider should probably be renamed to "bloom detail", because that's all it actually controls. Setting it to minimum won't simplify the particle effects or anything; it'll just get rid of the glowiness.
