For me the campaign was quite a challenge to clear using Kratoa and Therien but when i used Boneheart it became a walk in the park.
There are people that like using other heros and there are people that play mobile and don´t buy the dlc´s so everything needs to be doable with the starting heroes and towers.
So yeah, as Pielord hinted at, you would have to ignore the dragon heroes if you want to play any KR game with proper challenge. I have even thought about playing through the series again with a self-imposed challenge of only using heroes which are free on mobile and beat all stages and challenges on the highest difficulty with them. I want to see how fun the "free" experience is xD
Yeah, totally agree. I'm hopeful that the concept of having two heroes at once is just the unique feature of KRA (because of the alliance) and that the next game in the series will return to the default one hero. Fingers crossed! There's just too much micromanagement and spell spamming in KRA. At least in the previous games you would only use spells when it mattered, like a tactician. In KRA you just spam the spells because they now give very useful unique effects depending on the faction. It's just tiresome, mindless, and has nothing to do with strategy. "Baby's first RTS" indeed. Remember when you had to study the waves thoroughly and build accordingly? Had to figure it out like a good puzzle? Got your ass handed to you several times until that rewarding YES when you finally beat it? Those were the days, man.
I know Ironhide love their overpowered heroes and themed linear towers (because they can be sold), and I can live with those in the next KR game if only they could make it about the towers again, with balancing similar to KR1 and KRF. Even better, what if the next KR game could have BOTH linear towers and rare towers with two specializations?! Kingdom Rush Unity xD
