Freezing

After talking to the witch about making a healing salve. The game screen stays black and just locks up completely, and the only thing I'm able to do is restart my computer. I've tried multiple times to keep this from happening, and nothing has worked.
Does anybody have any idea why this is happening, or, more importantly, how I can stop it and get back to playing the game?

Have you tried skipping the scene? Maybe bypassing the conversation will keep the game going?

I tried, but it didn't do anything. It's also decided to freeze on a couple of other scenes.
I've managed to get it working again (depending on your definiton of "working", but only if I uninstall then reinstall the game.
