[Mod Request][Patch Request] No Voice Acting for Memories
I like the voice acting a ton and love playing with it, but I think they actually lessen the impact of the memory sequences, as those really feel like they should be read and not narrated. If we don't see any mod support for this title, and this isn't something that's patched, would anyone happen to know if this is something that might be resolved by deleting the specific audio files that relate to the memory narration?

Reading text lessens the impact of the idea that it's a memory.

Fine with someone creating an OPTION to do that. But at that point you might as well not even have the memory cutscenes and just put a bunch of text in a book like Elden Ring (which means it's not accessible for people who don't want to sit there reading a bunch of words which limits the emotional impact of the memory).

...You clearly have not opened the CONFG menu on THE MAIN MENU SCREEN.

"Voice - ON / OFF"
Select OFF.
Why do you need a mod??? Just select OFF when you don't want voices. It's IN THE GAME.

Also! "but I don't think they actually lessen the impact of the memory sequences, as those really feel like they should be read and not narrated. If we don't see any mod support for this title"
You *don't* think it lessens the impact of the memory sequences? So why is this an issue? Did you not proof-read..?

The irony is that people ♥♥♥♥♥♥' shat on FFXIII for its Datalog being "a lot of reading", but apparently mini-novels in Elden Ring and not wanting voice acting for Memories scenes because you "want to read it yourself" is the most baffling amount of hypocrisy I've ever seen... And there's a reason I generally detest most Western Final Fantasy "fans", constantly backflipping and contradicting *themselves*.

Lol, it's almost like there's multiple types of fans who are all individuals with various opinions and tastes that at times contradict one another. What a wild concept.

Holy total lack of reading comprehension, Batman.

So first off, that is a second person saying they don't think the option for voice acting to be turned off in memories is necessary. It's not me disagreeing with myself. But considering you complained that western FF fans are hypocrites who contradict themselves, it's pretty clear that you have a massive issue distinguishing individuals from one another.

Secondly, I'm not asking for voice acting as a whole to be turned off. Just in the Memories sequences. As of now voice acting is an all or nothing setting. So for it to be turned off specifically for Memories and only for Memories, it would require a mod.

All in all, Fantasian has taught me a ton about Steam forums; in that it is an absolutely garbage place to discuss vidya, filled with some of the most low-tier level intelligence you ca find on the Net. Bravo.

Re-read what you typed again, bud. :) YOU said you don’t think they actually lessen the impact. YOU did. In the original post.

Jeez what is wrong with the people here, this is an understandable request, you just don't wanna turn if off and on. forth and back as you cannot predict when the next memory sequence happens.

I get what you mean the memory sequences are way more immersive if you read it in your head and just concentrate on the music. Narration in the Lost Odyssey memories would've been unfitting as well.

Okay, and? Going to apologise for getting ranty at me for questioning it and so you went off at me claiming it "was someone else"? I *quoted you* in that initial post, yet you still claimed it was someone else. Dude.

The fact still remains, clearly the creator of the game (Sakaguchi himself) believed they are empty without a voice. They're memories. You're listening to someone's memory. That's the point. So.. You're questioning Sakaguchi's vision? The apparent idol of the FF purists? So.. Purists (FF "fans" who assume FF can only ever be turn-based, ignorant of the fact that its gameplay/combat isn't what makes it a Final Fantasy title...) proclaim Sakaguchi should "save FF".. But then they'll disrespect his vision anyway.. And refuse to accept/believe that he *also happens to love FFXVI and its "continuing 'mission of Final Fantasy' for evolution of the franchise"*.

And people complained that the FFXIII Datalog was a chore to read, but you want NO voices so you can only read it yourself..? People really need to make up their damn minds...

Sakaguchi is actually quoted as saying he didn't want voice acting in the game at all and only agreed to them after Yoshi-P pushed for them in Neo Dimension. He only agreed after they were added in that they enhanced the game. But they were certainly not part of his original vision for the game.

And no, absolutely not gonna apologize to you for your inability to use context clues to identify a clear typo. Or bother to dispute your endless bag of strawman fallacies.

Totally why The Last Story has voice acting. And Lost Odyssey has voice acting. And Blue Dragon has voice acting. And Terra Battle has voice acting.
Definitely wasn't because Mistwalker couldn't afford it for FANTASIAN. Nope. ;)
But ok, kid. Ok.

So? Perhaps Sakaguchi wanted it different for Fantasian, this doesn't say anything about the intentions here. If it was so important, they' clearly would've managed to implement voice acting from the start. But at minimum it wasn't essential.
Just because his previous games featured voice acting, doesn't automatically mean he would always decide for that. Perhaps this was was supposed to be more in reminescene of the old PSX games and the other Mistwalker titles aren't, you can't say for sure.

Totally the sense I got. This felt much more throwback than something like LO, which was clearly trying to push past FFX in terms of presentation and all that. Also the very fact that it was stated that Yoshi-P had to convince Sakaguchi pretty clearly implies Sakaguchi never intended for it to be voiced.

But this dude is clearly in full fanboy defense over this game at the moment, and is only here to tell everyone to shut up, rather than engage in any genuine form of discussion. Which is hilarious since people like you and I are clearly enjoying the game, lol. He also had 0.1 hours of playtime last I checked, so I guess he gets his fun being a keyboard warrior over actually playing games.

The narration in the memories may well have been the original intent, based on the Fantasian concert Uematsu did to coincide with the Apple Arcade release of Part 2:

https://youtu.be/0nVOZGqpONo?t=616

Did Rie Tozuka also narrate the scenes in Neo Dimension?

Voice acting I wouldn't mind if it weren't there for these scenes, as the text doesn't sync to the voices well, and I usually read faster than the voices anyway. But I like the narration.

Ah, interesting stuff. Granted, this was Uematsu's show and story, so hard to say what Sakaguchi originally intended just from this.

Ultimately though, I don't really care too much about the original intention. And I don't think the narration is bad. Like I said, I really enjoy the voice acting in this game. I just noticed that I enjoy reading the memories much more than listening to them read to me. So if there were a mod, or option, or file directory to delete, to get the game to unvoice the Memories that would be a cool thing. Glad to keep this conversation alive in hopes that someone adds that option somehow.
