Chapter 1 buggier than a actual bug

soooo im experiancing several bugsat once, first the hammer bug where i can't do anything with it, the damn cat won't appear even though i put the crow in the bowl cant do anything with it since the hammer doesnt do anything and i even restarrted the game, uninstalledit and re-installed it and its still happening, suggestions? Also yes i looked up a walkthrough to see if i was doing it right.

The hammer can't be used against the wall until you can hear the cat meowing. You need to place the crow in the bowl and manage to keep the window open. After that, leave the room and wander around the house a little bit until you start hearing a distant meow. Then you can proceed down the basement and use the hammer.

No i was doing that, its just the cat won't meow, i even hav the window jammed open and everything.

Did you use the grammophone prior to all of this? That might be your next step.

Not sure what was causing it but the hammer just worked all of a sudden and the scene with the cat playedout still no cat meows though but im glad it worked.
