win 10
the game starts in a window, the close X is on the top left side not like in windows top right
my desktop resolution is 1920x1080
i have to set the resolution to 1600x1200 this is the only resolution (the higher ones) that fits perfect without losing parts of the game screen
What's even weirder is I can't actually set the game to windowed mode as it says I need to set my desktop to 16 bit mode. But the fullscreen mode is showing a window border and title bar.
GOG.com just released their version of "X - Beyond the Frontier" and "X-Tension" (http://www.gog.com/game/x_gold) with a wrapper which takes care of this. You start the wrapper, the wrapper starts the game, no visible borders on any resolution. Still no proper support for widescreen though. But finally, we got rid of these stupid frames :)
Edit:
Much better solution: I just downloaded my Steam version to check if the wrapper can be applied to it ... and there it is already. Has Egosoft updated the game without telling anyone? No borders, no hassle, no problems.
Can you elaborate on the wrapper thingy please? Where is it? How do I tell it to make frames go away?
I also tried fullscrenize and that results in the same issues.
Although i keep the box for it checked in the launcher, it automatically defaults back to 800x600 16bit Fullscreen (with border).
