What do I do? I'm currently stuck at the part where I need to negotiate the release of a mafioso slice of pizza but I don't have any leverage.

You have to find the Pineapple Police Chief's daughter, and convince her to tag along, creating a fake hostage situation. You have to win 3 games of 3-in-a-row Cheese and Crackers, 5 games of 4-in-a-row, and 7 games of 5-in-a-row, in a row, no stopping, no losses, in that order, to get your gold deposit back from the gatekeeper. Then head over to the Well of Fates to have it forged and minted into gold coins, which you can use to buy her a nice, expensive item to win her over [mine was a purse, but it might differ between playthroughs]. Take her to the mafia base for safe keeping, then talk to the Chief. That should get you the negotiation cutscene, and then you'll perform the trade. Hope this helped.
