Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds

Freddi Fish and the Case of the Missing Kelp Seeds

Wait... What?! Freddi is a girl?
Throughout my entire childhood, i always thought freddi was a male. His demeanour, attitude, all display signs that he is a boy. While his voice was a tad high... it still resembled a young male child. At least that's what my child-self observed.

Yet... the trading cards say... "The heroine of the story" Wh-WHAT?! xD Did Freddi have a mysterious sex change during the creation of the trading cards? Or... was i fooled? O_o

And yes, i am aware on the fact that one could say "Why does it even matter?" It doesn't. I don't care about Freddi's gender, more so on the fact that i care on the possibly of being fooled throughout my childhood :')
Thoughts please. I'm dying of confusion. Am i in the wrong; have i been mislead by ignorance for thinking Freddi was a dude, or are the Trading cards misleading?

Sidenote: I am aware of the fact that some fish can change their sex (e.g. Clownfish), but the presentation of every other fish mirrors our society and gender roles. xD

Other Freddi Fish games did mention Freddi as a girl in the dialog, where she is referred to as "she".

Wow. Just Wow. How embarassing of me. :steamfacepalm: Thank you for clarifying that Freddi was a girl! You've blown my child(ish) brain away.

I wouldn't feel too bad, a LOT of people make this mistake. Even I thought she was a boy as a kid, until I heard this dialogue in the second game. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3Z9AcdkThSQ

Heh, you cannot miss it there!
I did only play the first, third, and a small fraction of the fourth; so unfortunately, i was doomed from the beginning.

Don't worry, I know what you mean. I had the same thought.

Wow. I'm surprised by this too. Just one thing to say: Did you ever heard about the Mandela effect?

HOLY CRAP I guess it is a girl.

ahah In french, Freddi had been named "Marine", so that's more obvious, and her voice is recorder by Brigitte Lecordier, very famous voice actress in France used to dub little children. So, for us, no surprises !

I was today years old when I learned that Freddi Fish is a girl. To be fair, though, I only ever played the first game, where Freddi's gender was left fairly ambiguous.

i guess Freddi is short for Winifred

It's like discovering Blue from Blue's Clues was a girl this whole time too

When I first discovered Freddi Fish, I thought she was a boy until I acknowledged the spelling of her name. Guys don't spell "Freddy" with an i (if they do, there's usually an e next to the i). Freddi is just a tomboy.
