Sorceress and the Shield Spell

I'm going for a 500 run and I notice this bit in the official guide:

"In the Adventurers' Guild, you can u
se Sixth Sense to find where the hidden
cache is, without having been told so by Arngrim. Use Flame Aura on the
fireplace and you will hunt around for a secret button and find the secret
stash (3), including a scroll containing the Shield spell!"

Now, I'm in Chapter 1, sitting in the guild, casting Sixth Sense, and watching the sparkle fly away without doing anything. So here are my questions three:

First question. Does this mean it requires a certain skill level in Sixth Sense?
Second question. Does this mean I cannot access this stash until Chapter 3?
Third question. Does this mean the walkthrough is simply wrong?

I think I'm becoming a svartalf...

I've never done it that way, so I don't know the answers. I simply find it easier to talk to Arngrim then skip the Sixth Sense thing.

You do not need to use Sixth Sense to get the points.

Hard to talk to Arngrim when you don't have Blink or Climbing.

And I won't enter Svartalfheim until I have the Shadow spell.

Of course, getting the money for it is difficult because brigands are being very stubborn about dropping stuff, and I'm also playing on the hardest difficulty in aim for the achievement.

EDIT: Money is no longer a problem, now that I've actually got stuff I can make money with. Still, though, I would like to know the answers to my questions if at all possible. After all, a Shield spell is pretty useful in combat.

You need a certain skill level in Sixth Sense to detect the Shield spell. It is set rather high, so I always just get Arngrim to tell me whenever I played the game :)
