help information on multiplayer mode

I've never tried to play with my friends but the thing I didn't understand is this: when it's my turn to shoot, can I choose who to shoot or can I only shoot at those who took the previous turn?

You can choose to shoot anyone including yourself

but in multiplayer does it necessarily have to be 4 or not? like it could be me against a friend of mine or there could be just two or three of us

You can play with at least 2 players. Me and my friend always turn this game into a beer party.
