the thing is with how the game works in regards to shells is that it's both simplistic and consists of a balance of skill and chance. adding more shell types to load into the gun would just give more things to keep track of while also making it more luck-based, which I feel would only serve to make the game less enjoyable
_ that being said, there is an 'unknown' shell type referenced in multiplayer code. it's not really documented however so I can only guess how it works. I think it's just a chance that a shell will use the 'unknown' texture instead of the usual live/blank when using the Magnifying Glass? but not sure what the chances of that happening is, sadly
personally not too big on ranked modes myself so I don't really have an opinion on the bank account idea, but I could see how a separate ranked mode could be interesting to others who want to better ensure they go against someone closer to their skill level
