AITAH: Is taking notes cheating?
A friend asked me to get this game to play multiplayer with, and I got the game and ran through the base game and did some double or nothings. Then he invites me to multiplayer, and before we even start the first round I hear him writing down NOTES in a NOTEBOOK so that he can keep track of the rounds in a chamber.

I understand that a big part of this game is knowing percentages and odds, but I figure that you're doing all of these calculations in your head on the fly to keep the game fast and fun. My friend is by no means mentally or academically challenged, it just feels ridiculous that I have to sit there and wait for him to carry the 1 in his notebook. It feels like an unnecessary handicap, and ultimately cheating.

If somebody with a learning disability did this, I would have no issue, but it seems to defeat the purpose of the game to take the time to calculate risk EVERY SINGLE TURN.

Anyway, I refuse to play multiplayer with them until they stop using notes. AITAH?

In my opinion you are completely right. I agree with you....before i did read this i didn't even think about that someone might use notes to keep track of the rounds in a chamber. It's really easy to remember.

It's not cheating but just laziness to remember something and to think. Your friend is just writing down simple things he can easily remember...it's a waste of time for everyone in the match and it would really annoy me if my friend would use it. This game feels more fun when it's fast.

If i did use notes to keep track of the rounds in a chamber, I would be really ashamed of myself and would question my own intelligence...if i would win while using the notes, i wouldn't respect my own win. Because i am not lazy and i know i can remember such simple thing. I bet it gets boring when you have to wait for your friend to write it down into his notes every turn. I bet it really feels unfair. But winning againts someone who uses notes must feel much better. It would make me feel good and i would make fun of my friend who can't win while using his stupid notes.

I bought this game to my 3 friends and no one had to use any notes. We have a lot of fun, our games are fast, no one has to wait for someone's notes.

If someone who has disability did this, it would be underestable and they would have real reason to do such thing. Your friend might be just dumb....but i think he is probably only lazy and wants to make it more easy for himself without having to think. Nowadays people are getting more and more lazy and it hurts them when they have to use their brain. Or he just might need to win because doesn't know how to lose so he uses notes.

If you wanna play fair game againts opponent who uses only head to remember then you can add me and i will gladly play with you....^^ just gave you the option..

Nobody here plays multiplayer to win but for fun. Dude has problem with his friend writing down game data in his notebook notes instead of just keeping it in his head. It wouldn't be as much fun for me if someone had to keep track of the rounds in a chamber by writing it down in the notes while i don't because i can keep it in my head and remember. Some games takes a while and people sometimes does mistakes when they forget how many rounds are still loaded in the chamber and how many rounds were shot. And that makes it even more fun when you shoot yourself with a live shell and was so sure there was loaded blank shell and longer games gets more challenging and interesting....having to calculate everything in your head and thinking about your next move....but when there is someone who writes it down in the notes then they can't do any mistake when they wrote it all in the notes...it's also not as challenging.

i think not. i have really bad memory, so i took the first token i could find (4d6 for blanks, and 4d20 for hots) and put them next to my pc. its the same than taking notes. i dont think its cheating.

Imagine believing that writing down percentages gives him an advantage over you remembering percentages. Frankly, I wouldn't want to play with the OP either with such a pitiful attitude towards his friends.

I prefer to play without taking notes, since I find forgetting stuff part of the fun, BUT if someone wants to take notes why stop them? I'd give a gentle nudge (basically telling them what I just said in the first sentence), but if they need/want to, I won't have a bad attitude about it.

If I was someone who wanted/needed to take notes, and you had such a bad attitude about this toward me, I probably wouldn't play with you either. Maybe that's fine (you don't gotta do everything with every friend!), or maybe you need to re-evaluate the attitude you have toward the people you call friends.

Or maybe the person taking notes needs to re-evaluate their priorities. Sweating in a fun luck game by taking notes is definitely a sign of them having issues.
