Illegitimate high scores?

Are the in-game online leaderboards legit? Is the current world record really 87165717078775595008? If I counted correctly, that's 45 wins in a row. Does anyone know what is th legit confirmed world record right now?

Oh absolutely not. I've never played a game with reliable leaderboards.

Probably needs to be an option to enable posting your stats to a leaderboard and when enabled the game runs through a server. Would pretty much negate all cheating.

I think just an anti-cheat would be needed (I expect it'll come with multiplayer anyways for obvious reasons). Alternatively a forum with video proof runs (like speedrun.com), but that's probably too much work for a $3 game by a solo dev.

Just no, I don't want an entire anticheat engine snooping around at the kernel level of my system every time I launch a $3 indie game, nor do I want the developer to give away the entire $3 I paid to a sketchy, privacy-disrespecting third party that licenses the anticheat software.

That’s what you get when a game only has permanent leaderboards. But yeah, it’s easier to implement than dailies, so nobody cares. I’ll stick to my dailies and weeklies with chill players, not permaboards with tryhards, meta slaves and cheaters ;D
