- Always use as much items as possible each turn. You keep getting new items each round so there's no point to "save" them, and it fills up slots that you want to keep freed. Especially if the dealer has an adrenaline. Every single time you are below max health and have any cigarettes, use them immediately.
- Always start with items that give information: phones and magnifying glass. That can strategize what bullets are live
- Never shoot yourself unless you confirm that the next bullet is blank
- It can be more important to prevent the dealer from getting a turn than it is to shoot to dealer at all. Since every round starts with the player's turn, it can be advantageous to waste bullets in order to push it to the next round
Welcome to the world of probability and statistics. Probably what you should expect in games like this.
Don't spend items that you don't have to in round 3. Items on both sides of the board carry over into the next round 1, so you want to avoid ending up in a huge item deficit. To further this point, if you ARE in a pretty big deficit with no game changing items on your side (i.e. you have things like expired medicine on your side of the board), if you can safely do it or can assure yourself the win, it might be worth stretching out the round to the next set to get another few of items THEN finishing off the dealer. Nothing stings more than going into a new round 1 and the box only gives you 2 items and you're going up against a dealer with a full inventory. By biding time to bring more items with you to the new round 1, you give yourself a bit of a cushion of certainty of what you're bringing with you as well.
If you're going to do damage to the dealer, and he has adrenaline and you have cigarettes, smoke them immediately, even if you're at max health. The second it gets to his turn, he will steal them. And if the round in the chamber is live and he shoots you, now you're down TWO charges in relation to how many the dealer has, rather than just 1 if you had smoked the cigarettes.
Focus on the game. If you lose track of what's been shot, which shell you're on, how many shells there were, etc., you might as well just put a blindfold on and pray. A piece of paper or Windows notepad can be useful for keeping track of these things if you find you have trouble managing it all mentally.
If the dealer has adrenaline, sometimes you want to waste items you have, even if they don't directly benefit you in the moment, if only so he can't make use of them. Got a knife? Might as well use it so he can't take it on his turn. Handcuffs? Might as well lock him down. Magnifying glass? Definitely. Cell phone? For sure. I mentioned the scenario for cigarettes above.
Conversely, beer can be a great adrenaline bait. It left with nothing else to steal, he'll take it if he deems it worth using. Medicine used to be another good bait option, but now that it's no longer a 60% chance to take damage, it's more of a hindrance in my experience now if he does take it.
