DISCLAIMER: Buckshot Roulette is built with GODOT engine, which uses Vulkan API instead of DirectX.

Buckshot Roulette also does not officially support Mac OS. Unfortunately, Mac OS is notorious for problems with Vulkan API, and your best bet is to try and launch the game with OpenGL (as described below).

Another solution might be using an app like Parallels[www.parallels.com] or PlayOnMac[www.playonmac.com] to try an launch the game in an emulated Windows environment.

Please, consider this before buying the game!

Vulkan Error

If you’re getting the “Unable to initialize Vulkan video driver” error, make sure that your Vulkan video driver is up to date. You can download the latest version from these pages:
Vulkan for NVidia GeForce graphics cards[developer.nvidia.com]
Vulkan for AMD Radeon graphics cards[gpuopen.com]

If your graphics card doesn’t support Vulkan, you can try launching Buckshot Roulette in OpenGL mode.

Easy way

1. Right-click Buckshot Roulette in your Steam Library
   
2. Select 'Properties...'
   
3. Paste under 'Launch Options' the following

   --rendering-driver opengl3

4. Close the window and try launching the game.

Hard way

To do this on Windows:

1. Press Win+R, type in cmd and press Enter. A command terminal window will open.
   
2. Enter

   cd [Path to Buckshot Roulette folder on your computer]

   and press Enter
   
3. Paste

   "Buckshot Roulette.exe" --rendering-driver opengl3

   and press Enter again

To do this on Mac OS:

1. Open Terminal.app (press Cmd + Space and enter Terminal). A command terminal window will open.
   
2. Enter

   cd [Path to Buckshot Roulette folder on your computer]

   and press Enter
   
3. Paste

   "Buckshot Roulette.exe" --rendering-driver opengl3

   and press Enter again

Connection issues when hosing or trying to connect to the public lobbies

Most likely your router blocks the outgoing traffic.

You can try solving this with port forwarding UDP ports 4379 and 4380 to allow outgoing traffic.

Keep in mind, that not every router allows for port forwarding. More info at: https://portforward.com/

A friend of mine's computer, for some reason, spikes his RAM usage to 100% whenever he opens the game, which then causes him to crash or bluescreen. he has around 8 gigabytes of ram and the game still does this. he tried opengl and it didnt work either.

Still crashes on boot on my PC with Linux (Manjaro KDE) and Steam Deck, Opengl workaround does tha same.

Previous version worked fine, is there any way to downgrade?

Apologies if this goes without saying, but is it normal for the Vulkan renderer to run at half the framerate of the OpenGL renderer? Running it on desktop Linux, with Vulkan 1.3, but with an older integrated card (Intel UHD 620). 20-25 FPS.

Edit: found an official post about the game having poor performance on older graphics cards with the Vulkan renderer. Somewhat disappointing, but there's the answer.

hey there! i just bought the game and, for some reason, it isn't starting at all. i tried launching it multiple times but it just won't budge.. the game's graphics are pretty simple, so it can't be my laptop's problem, yeah? if not, then what can I do?

My PC is a laptop and the only specs it has is a Intel-I7 5500U CPU (2.40GHz) with DX11. (8GB of RAM)

Game runs perfectly fine save for it will crash/freeze my computer at any given moment without warning.

Hi! Unfortunately, if your graphic drivers are up to date, there's nothing else you can do to improve the situation as Buckshot Roulette does run worse on older graphic cards.

I have problem with multiplayer, had problem with turning on the game, i used this --rendering something but whenever i try to open multi all i see is black screen, everything else works good
