It isn't supposed to be easy.

The intention was probably that it's a consolation achievement, if you were to attempt and fail to double after the milestone (like you're one of the people aiming for 1 billion, which is several more rounds to pass). At face value though, getting 1 million is the same achievement with either the buttons, just that the "walk away alive" one's more appealing since it's a good ending.
