Dude, honestly i play very much games Horror and Outlast is not scary, really want to play games that jump out of fear? Play Silent HIll 1, 2 & 3 and then we see that jump you make.
Based on your comment, I suspect you haven't played a REAL horror game your entire ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ life.
Ok. The scares of the jump variety are the lazy way of scaring someone. It's the atmosphere that should creep you out and the occational jumpscare would top it. Games that consist of mosly jump scares are scary at first but then they get really predictable.
In general I think what makes this game a horror game is the atmosphere, it's definately not the jump scares or the engine (the mobs aren't scary looking at all) the vampires look like Emo Christmas elves. So it's mostly down to the soundtrack and atmosphere really. I wouldn't be worried about the jump scares.
