Hotas supported?
Topic says it all. Would LOVE to play this game with my Thrustmaster Flight Hotas X.
Elite is too much simulation, Eve has no content, but this looks like the good old Freespace 2 times. Please, support Hotas!

I wanna use my HOTAS too for this game! I just want the BSG Viper pilot feel to be right, and this game already reeks of that smell
I'm gonna quote mike from the website :

What controller should I buy for the game?

House of the Dying Sun works great with just a keyboard and mouse, but was designed with a dual-analog gamepad (Xbox 360, DualShock 4) as the "lead" controller. We highly recommend one of those. Don't buy a HOTAS specifically for this game!

( it doesn't mean you can't try to configure an Hotas stick )

Also the FAQ is a good place to start if you got basic questions : http://steamcommunity.com/app/283160/discussions/0/357287304424871171/

Essentially what the dev means by the game being designed for Dual-Shock is that you probably need access to two analogue sticks and a throttle axis at the same time to play this game effectively. In other forum posts, I think Mike said that you could bind your joysticks yourself and that multiple inputs would work. More than 4 won't work though.
What the dev means is that he put "classic space sim gameplay" on the bullet points, but has apparently never bothered to play any classic space sims. :)
According to the angry centaur review Joystick support is definitely possible and he seemed to prefer it to gamepad.
Ya that's my review for ACG. I used a Thrustmast X to great success. Its a bit slower than M&K obviously but it felt perfect and was instantly recognized and allowed for any settings I wanted.
I am using an X52 and it's working fine.
I can't use my HOTAS setup as it doesn't pick up anything when I try to bind the buttons or Axis. It's as if the controllers just were not there. Is this just something that hasn't been sorted yet? I don't want to play with keyboard and mouse so will wait until joystick works.
I've been playing it with a CH Combatstick and Pro Throttle, apart from the throttle axis acting a bit weird I had no problems, I had to take my time to set it up though.

Which HOTAS do you have?
Sometimes setting priorities in the control panel solves the problem, most games pick up the first one or two gaming peripherals regardless of what they are.

Or that he was one of the people who played them with Keyboard and Mouse, which is understandable, having a stick as a requirements in some of the later classic spacesims contributed to killing the genre. Hell, the X-wing series was outright killed by this choice.

I am using an all CH Products setup. Combatstick, Pro throttle and Predals. I'll double check to make sure my CH products setup is the default/priority.
SO, Windows saw all three devices seperatley. So i used the CH Products Control Manager to compine then into one Device. Then set it as the Default in Windows "set up USB Game Controllers" and now i can assign buttons and Axii, (axis's?). However some of the hats and my thumbstick on the CH Pro Throttle still don't work. I would like to use the Thumbstick for Radial menus (obviously) but i can't asign it. The 8 way Hat to the left of that thumbstick also cannot be assigend to anything.

Last gripe is that the trottle is more of an off/off than an axis, i can't leave it half way for half throttle etc, anything forward of centre is decelerate and anything behind centre is accellerate. So how do you set speeds that are not 100% or 0% throttle?

As you are using the same throttle as me. I was wondering do you jabe these same issues? Thanks for the advice on getting the controller to detect. I can now play in VR.

Yes, same issue, I've fiddled with the in-game options "calibrate" function (select the device then the axis you want to edit, you can change zero, deadzone and sensibility in-game) and it's a bit better but it still goes down to zero throttle earlier than it should, at the moment he is still to fix this problem as he is working on wave clear mode, just be sure to activate the beta by right-clicking on the steam icon and choosing the "beta" tab.

The other problem is that a single device in windows has only 32 buttons max, instead of merging the devices with the wizard just assign the axis to another device by doing this:

Create a simple profile by just adding the devices manually using "add devices" (better do it in order, first the stick, then the throttle and last the pedals so they wil result as devices numer 1, 2 and 3 respectively), now you will have a simple profile with the three peripherals functioning as normal separate directX devices.
Instead of merging them make sure that the axis of the pedals is assigned to another device by selecting the pedals tab, then the rudder axis and set dx device to "dx device 1" or whatever number corresponds to the peripheral you want to assign it to (I would assume the stick). Just make sure that the letter of the axis doesn't conflict with the other axes of the stick or throttle: the Combatstick and Pro Throttle have 3 axes, X,Y and Z, just choose another of the options for the axis letter like R, and the pedals shouls work like a fourth axis of the chosen device and you will be able to configure everything in-game, I did a similar thing with Freespace and X-wing Alliance to use the orizontal axis of the thumstick as rudder.
This trick can work with more or less any axis, this is how I configured the pro throttle for older windows games by swapping the z axis on the combatstick with the z axis on the throttle (in older games I usually map everything in the profile except two or three buttons on the stick), or assigning the orizontal axis of the thumbstick as the "R" axis (which in older games is automatically detected as the rudder).

I just love the control manager, even without the scripting (which might as well be written in runic mixed with chinese ideograms for what I can tell) it does so many things, I even mapped the mouse to the stick just for fun once.

It has HOTAS support, my initial confusion with the throttle was derived from the fact that having the afterburner in the throttle axis is very rare if not unheard of in spacesims and I have little experience with real flight simulator where the practice is more common.
Everything works perfectly as longas you disable the steam controller API so the game can detect everything by itself, and of course take the time to bind the buttons and axes.

I am using a CH Pro Throttle and a Thrustmaster T1600 with it right now. To say it supports it would be an understatement. It supports it well.
