-You can mine upwards in the mech-sub WHILE under-acid.
-You can drain the acid out so you can go back in your normal mech.
-Normal mech isn't getting the ability to mine upwards.
I do agree it'd be nice if we could get that as something for the normal mech. Heck have it as an upgrade from the scientist dude. Have him comment about why we can't mine upwards considering we can mine in all directions 'cept up XD
The fact that you cannot drill upwards is intentional, as it requires you to think carefully and strategically which route you want to dig. Obviously since Super Mining Mechs is a very casual / easy game in which you cannot fail or lose, I think that without this element of planning, the game would get too boring. But since a lot of people wanted this feature I decided to implement it in the submarine - which comes with its other challenges such as lack of light. I figured this would be a good way to have it in there without making the game too easy / boring.
Regarding this:
In general this is the case though, as you might have already upgraded your original mining mech so it's really fast and efficient, while you will need to upgrade the submarine mech from scratch. So it'll be slower at first, but it can indeed dig upwards.
Hope that makes sense!
