Feedback after beating the game
Well, now I've beaten the game, so I figured i'd give some more feedback on things I noticed. Forgive me if it seems my thoughts are all over the place, that's how my brain works.

I know you are planning banking changes, but among them I desperately ask for the ability to type in the number I want to store, withdraw, or sell. That was my one big annoyance.

Next is a question. How do we get prestige? Is that a future to be developed thing? Did I miss something?

The pacing seems a little off. Especially once you get a decent number of mines. Honestly, I think things should cost more money and mines should be slower for the common resources. The uncommon ones are fine for how long you have to wait. I had all of the skills maxed after mission 3. By the time I started the last mission, I had everything. I went back and did maps 3 for Frostera and Vulcanar after the last mission. So that meant for 3 missions my only objective was to dig down. Didn’t need money or resources. The thing I love most about this, and the first game, is the exploration. Yet I was left with 4 maps with no reason to explore (counting Islandora map 4, which is the only one I haven't done yet, not that I really got anything from Frostera 3 and Vulcanar 3).

Even the pacing of the mech sets is a little weird at times. Tier 6 and 7 should visually be reversed. It seems odd to need the Vulcanar resources for the winter theme. Tier 6 would fit better with getting on Vulcanar too as opposed to the Frostera resources.

I know that the power lines is technically a better version of the pipes from the first one… but I think I liked the pipes better. The wires were just more hassle than anything else. I like my center of the screen straight drop down, which in this can get interrupted by mines or power crystals. When all you had to do in the first was pay the money and the pipes constructed themselves (for downwards), I thought that was genius. I see the progression, I just wish the wires were a little less hassle. Maybe if they didn’t create a platform under them, they would be a little less annoying. Yes, I know I can just hold down to pass through things, but it's not the same. There was something nice about leaning back in my chair, hands off keyboard, and watching my fall get faster and faster. I dunno, I could probably go on about this in more detail, but I doubt it is needed. Therefore, rant about this minor thing over.

Would be nice if once you unlock and pay for all parts, I could get a cosmetics option for the mech. It would be that I can have the stats of the best piece, but have it look like another. Some of the mech sets looked cool, but some of the others were… not great, at least in my opinion.

Major slowdown (below 30 fps) while moving about in the hub ship almost all of the time. Going up to the ship. Down from the ship. Running back and forth on the ship. Also on ship takeoff and arrival from one planet to another.

Got some slowdown from the ice/magma mechanics, but not a lot (not lower than 30 fps).

If I am in fullscreen, minimize the game, then go back to the game, the game has immense slowdown (below 20 fps).

I noticed that a lot of times if I was having slowdown, setting the game to windowed, then back to fullscreen usually fixes it. Just leaving the game as is doesn't make it get any better. Only doing the mentioned tactic or quitting and relaunching fixes it.

Overall, I really did enjoy my time playing. I hope there is DLC and maybe even another game in this series. I know that I’ll keep on playing them.

Related to banking, as a controller user, banking as well as buying from the dirt guy are HORRIBLE on controller. On dirt guy, lemme do like 1 button is buy 1, another buy max or something, instead of tabbing left and right with the joystick. It's painful.

Banking's equally OOFy.

This was implemented in today's patch. Trying to improve the overall controller support soon!

Thanks a lot for all of your feedback Typhon, definitely some stuff I need to think about.
  • I'll add the option to type a number - great suggestion
  • Prestiges are coming in the next big update
  • I'll run through the pacing and the upgrades again, appreciate the feedback and sorry to hear it felt off
  • I've just pushed a patch where you can just hold down the building key and power lines are automatically built at the max distance. You can even build then while digging. Hope that make it less tedious. I felt that the pipe system was quite limiting, but I guess people liked that too in a way. Interesting how that works.
  • Cosmetic options for mechs are coming, it's on the roadmap!
  • Slowdown is being investigated! I try to optimize things in every patch. Just this last patch has dynamic FPS so it can scale based on if the game is lagging, which should help.

Overall glad to hear you enjoyed the game and thank you a lot for your review / feedback. Really appreciate that :)
