Known Solutions
Crash on startup:
Install the x86 Visual C++ 2012 Redistributable Update 4[www.microsoft.com] from Microsoft. If you have a 64-bit OS, and that doesn't help, install the x64 version as well. (You definitely need the former, but might need both)
Also try the below fix.
Unexplained Lag/Crashes (including on battle results):
Set the game's .exe file to Windows XP SP2/SP3 compatibility mode.
If the game is installed on an external drive, install it on an internal one. Drives which are too slow break this game. Also make sure other programs aren't hounding the drive while you play (most especially if it's an HDD).
FMVs not playing/automatically skipping:
This is caused by certain codec packs picking up certain filetypes. Try solutions in this link[pcgamingwiki.com] or use google to find the specific solution for your setup.
Can't use controller:
This was supposed to be fixed in a recent update. However, if it's still a problem, make sure your controller is supported by the game and that it's enabled in the system options.
Other:
Update your video card drivers. This can solve many problems, even not-graphics problems, because of the driver installation process side effects.
Try redownloading the game. It might fix itself.

Rendering errors (black screen, transparent hair, etc):
Update your GPU drivers completely. If that doesn't help, your GPU is below minimum spec. Sorry. Try lowering your resolution.
If your GPU really does meet the spec and updating your GPU drivers doesn't work, try downgrading to various other driver versions. For example, Catalyst 12.1 can be good for old AMD cards.
Audio only during FMVs on some computers:
No known fix.
Fullscreen not working on some computers:
No known fix.
Excessive CPU usage frame drops:
No fix, sorry. This game just isn't optimized for weak CPUs. If you can get 30fps on 7-year-old hardware, you're fine.
Low framerate with low CPU and GPU useage:
This game has a single-threaded rendering system because threading with OpenGL is very hard. The CPU and GPU have to wait for eachother to finish before they can do anything. So if both are barely up to par, they'll be below par together. Forcibly enabling Triple Buffering for OpenGL in your driver settings can decrease the time they wait for eachother.

Blurry gameplay:
No real fix. Use Hyperresolution Neptunia for an improvement, if your GPU can handle it.
No resolution above 900p:
This applied to older versions of the game. Try updating. If there is no update, just play in fullscreen: it matches the game resolution to your desktop resolution setting.
Additionally, use Hyperresolution Neptunia[blog.metaclassofnil.com] for higher than FullHD.
Annoying Letterboxing:
No direct fix. Change your desktop resolution to 16:9 or run in a window.
Huge deadzones (stiff diagonals):
No fix. Try using the dpad where you need fine rotation.
Missing axis in menu camera:
Cut from the port. No vanilla fix. There exists a Cheat Engine config for adding it, however.

Save options not appearing:
You can't save from the menu in dungeons or during VN sequences. Period. Saving/loading is under System on the menu in the world map, or at save points in dungeons.
Saves not working:
Fixed in most recent update. If you still can't save, there's no current fix for your specific version of the problem.
Battle system bugs:
No known fix. Possibly occurs when running on 32-bit windows.

That does seem to be a graphics card issue. If upgrading to the latest driver doesn't fix it, there is nothing you can do without upgrading your GPU (buying a new one if it is a desktop, or buying a new computer if it is a laptop.).

yup, updating Catalyst Control Center to 14.12 fixed the issue, hopefully this update won't give me the issue with crossfire like it did before I first rolled back.

I love how it's a blame on the card manufacturer, when in fact drivers are really focused on OS compatability. The real answer is it's an issue with devs not making compatability a priority when making their games.

Drivers are notoriously difficult to write because games makes really, really crazy API usage decisions. Driver writers have to look at the game's code, figure out WTF it's trying to do, and make it work. It's because the APIs (DirectX and OpenGL) leave so much room for implementation holes and differing behaviors that what works on one machine might not work on another. OGL is actually doing incredibly well for how much less coverage it gets from driver writers.

i've tried all the suggestions people gave me but it still won't let me play it

What kind of rig are you using? Since depnding on what it is, it might sound like you don't meet the minimum specs for the game here.

I am using a Intel graphic card. So maybe i should wait for new patch :D

Did you update your NVidia and Intel Grpahics Cards by chance? The Intel one you need to go through a few hoops to get that updated. As for Nvidia that one is cake walk to do though.

I had completely forgotten about this possible solution from when the game launched.
Don't install the Game on an external HDD, install on the internal drives.

Posting in case the OP wants to add this to the main post.
This person reminded me from this thread. http://steamcommunity.com/app/282900/discussions/0/618458030676155960/

I had the same issue, fixed it by installing on my C: drive instead of an external. Steam only does a one time refund btw so if you bought the game on sale I'd suggest keeping it. 15 dollars isn't much and the developers seem to be patching the game often so it may work eventually.

So I'f been trying to get rid of the Blackscreen + Audio Cutscenes.
I'm using:
  • Win 7 64bit Ultimate
  • I7-2600k (Sandy Bridge)
  • Gainward GTX 970 Phantom
  • dual monitor Samsung SyncMaster 225BW 16:10 monitor setup (primary connected via DVI, secondary over mini-displayport to DVI)
Drivers updated, internal Intel HD card can't even start the game and windows reports ONLY windows codecs. (The Audio seems to be decoded fine ...)
Thanks for any advice in advance.
The Game is installed on a second SSHD but due to symlinking it THINKS it is installed in C:/Program Files (x86)

You might want to install this one onto the C:\ drive and see if it works after that.

Hi! Install a codec. Default windows codecs are not enough. I recommend: KCP.

Download the stable build. :happylaugh:

Sadly neither fix worked (even when combined), I still get the black screen + audio only. But at least I now know how to move steam games around ...

What kind of rig do you use? The only thing I can think of is your rig doesn't meet the minimum requirements posted on the store page. Other than that are you sure you updated your drivers as well.
