Game freezes during first fight when Compa attacks.

Is there anyone that can assist me with this issue? I initiate combat after the first tutorial fight and as soon as Compa attacks, the game freezes. I tried compatibility mode and with no avail.

Update, it's not just after Compa attacks, I had her defend twice. The game just freezes during the first battle.

Did you try verifying the integrity of the game files? If you don't know how to, here:
-Right click the game in your library
-Click "Properties"
-Click "Installed Files"
-Click "Verify integrity of game files"
-Wait for the process to complete, should re-download any missing files
