Device Select Issue
I can't seem to change from Keyboard to Controller in the config menu.

Any advice?

This idea might seem extremely weird but it just works for me and it is how i overcame the same problem on Akiba's trip.

But whenever i load the game then connect the controller it doesn't work but if i connect the control then start the game its works. So try that but no promises

I usually do have it plugged in when I start the game, it just doesn't seem to register it.

What controller are you using? I don't think Direct Input is supported if that's what you're using.

XBox 360 controller for PC.

This may sound funny, but are you sure you use the correct arrow-key?
The controller is to the left when Keyboard is selected, not on the right..which is kind of unusual.

Both arrows are greyed out and unresponsive.

Then the game don't register the controller at all.

It apparently won't enable the arrows until you plug in a controller it recognizes.
Logitech F310 (which I got 2 days ago) in xinput mode works, so I can't see why that one won't.
(WUpdate wanted to install the XBOX 360 controller driver for it, so I guess they appear
to be almost identical)

Just to eliminate the obvious, did/does the controller work in other "xinput" games both before
and after this one?

I guess this is as far as I can "help"..
I rarely encounter any problems with games, so..

Yes, I noted that it doesn't seem to register it in a previous comment.

It works just fine in other things (Steam's Big Picture & Left 4 Dead 2), just not this. So much for 'Full Controller Support'...

I use a wireless xbox 360 controller. To get it to work make sure your controller is ON before you start the game up. Then go into options and change keyboard to xbox 360. Then it will work. Next time you go to restart the game, all your settings will reset to default if you do not turn on controller first. Make sure that you turn on the controller first each time you start up the game so your saved settings will stay. It's either a bug or design flaw. Minor annoyance but easily fixable.
Vegeta002 Dec 10, 2015 @ 5:41pm
It's a wired controller that has no power switch and is on from the moment it's plugged in, it's not so easy to fix.

Well then im not sure how to help you. Perhaps the game needs the wireless xbox360 drivers to recognize it? Did your try downloading that from microsoft?

Nah, I'm also only using a wired one and it works fine. The error must lie elsewhere. Though he could try deinstalling and reinstalling his current driver via Device Manager. Unlikely to fix it though.

You can try using my settings Iam using a xbox 360 controller wired.

go to C:\Users\<user name>\Documents\My Games\Idea Factory International, Inc\Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1

Find Neptune.ini copy it and paste it somewhere else then copy these settings into the ini with notepad. This might force it to be xbox controller but may not work cause you have a different computer... worth a shot but I have no idea what that long key means.

If it doesn't work go back to your old ini that you copied

also I have version 6.1.7600.16385 of the xbox controller not sure if that would matter or not.

Also you might want to just try deleting the Neptune.ini, tho you gotta tell steam, "no steam cloud" or it will come back via steam cloud rather than going back to default.

I never had this problem but that is where your controller setting are saved for sure.

I've installed and reinstalled both wired and wireless drivers multiple times and got no good results for the wired controller.

Tried those before and got no results.

EDIT: Since the wired controller isn't working, I decided to give the wireless controller another go. For some reason, that one actually works this time, despite it never even regering with the COMPUTER when I tried it before. Hopefully it'll last...
