Continuity of story throu series

Hi all JRPG enthusiasts.

I just started to play Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 and have to say I like it.
But I can see that there are a lot of games in this series.
Are these games follow one story from first to last?
Or is it like in final fantasy that every game tells diffrent story and you can play is as standalone?

Rebirth1 is unrelated to the other games.
Rebirth2, Rebirth3 and Megadimension are linked, but not enough to stop to play them as standalone games....

Okay, so lets talk about Neptunia in general.

Hyperdimension Neptunia - first game in the series - super dimension - original story

Hyperdimension Neptunia Mk2 - second game - hyper dimension - original story (not related to the first)

Hyperdimension Neptunia Victory - third game - hyper > ultra dimension - sequel to second game

Hyperdimension Neptunia Producing Perfection - spinnoff (idol game)

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth 1 - remake of the original

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;birth 2 - Sisters Generatoin - remake of mk2

Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;brith 3 - V Generation (known as V century on Vita) - remake of Victory

Hyperdevotion Noire: Goddess Black Heart - spinoff - Steam release on 3-29

Hyperdimension Neptunia U: Action Unleashed - spinoff - Steam release announced on TBA

Megadimension Neptunia : VII - PS4 Only - Zero dimension > Hyper dimension > Heart dimension (the game is 3 parts) - sequel to V Generation

MegaTAGmension Blanc + Neptune VS Zombies - spinoff

Hyperdimension WAR Neptunia vs Sega Hard Girls: Dream Fusion Special - japan only atm - spinoff

That is the mapping of the entire Hyperdimension Neptunia series atm after 5.5 years of games. at the very least we should be getting two more spinoffs for Compa and Vert to be protags, probably atleast another entry into the main story line (SEGA Saturn still hasnt been seen), and then probably spinoffs for the CPU candidates.

As of now, the only announced PC games (besides the Re;Birth series) are Hyper devotion Noire, and Hyper Dimension Neptunia U. Dont expect the first 3 or PP to come as NISA published them in the US, not Iffy. (and they were terrible games anyway)

There are also a few official manga series, a light novel, and an anime series

Re;Birth 2 > Re;Birth 3 > VII is the main story, everything else is just an alternate dimension that doesnt relate.

While this is true, if you dont play them as a continuity you miss a lot of jokes and references, such as Anonydeath, Neptune (the big one), Ultra Dimension, Nepgear and Nepgeardam, etc etc. A LOT of jokes and references. Its like playing Re;Birth 1 without having played mk2 (or Re;Birth 2) this joke

One more question.
Is there a save transfer feature?

What do you mean by save transfer?

For example. After finishing Witcher 2 you can transfer save to Witcher 3 and
it will affect events in Witcher 3. You will not meet characters you killed in Witcher 2 etc.

each game continues off the true ending of the previous, nothing like Witcher's save transfers. (Compile heart couldnt have pumped out 4-5 HDN games this year if it was like that - or in a slightly more rude way "pshh you expect compile heart and IF put EFFORT into making their games with branching storylines over multiple games? that'll happen when noire gets a friend, neptune has a non-selfish dream, and Blanc gets boobs" - or I would have said that that'll happen part if it wasnt for ***insert censored game name here because spoilers*** damn it...)

I know that wasnt funny. I'm a tryhard.

But yeah, the true ending. If you get say the good ending in V-Generation, then the beginning of Megadimension is just impossible, or if you get the say... THAT Ending *gulp* in Sisters Generation then, umm... yeah.... the Neptune Series would be over.

On a side note: http://store.steampowered.com/app/387340/ Action Unleashed steam page. (its not that good of a game, only because the AI is awful as all hell) unlike the turnbased JRPG of HDN, this spinoff is a Action RPG (or the genre according to the trolls at compile heart, its a nep-nep action game)

You can tell im really tryharding in making you give more money to Iffy, because more money = more of a change of getting Date a Live.
