Is there any way to get rid of the dubtitles?

I've been playing the game on GOG for about 5 minutes and already I'm cringing so hard because the dubtitles have little to do with the Japanese that is being spoken. I don't know much Japanese, but it's blatantly obvious to me that the dubtitles change some stuff and frequently abridge things. I'm just in the first cutscene with Neptune meeting Historia and already its hard for me to play the game. Neptune says a lot of things that are either significantly changed or else omitted from the subs entirely. The dubtitle dialog box is like two sentences long, the JP voiceover is like 4 sentences long, with extra jokes, "nep"'s and nuances. I really wish this wouldn't happen. Does anybody know a way to replace the dialog files with a proper translation? The dubtitles are sooooo baaaad

After playing a little bit more, they're not as bad as I thought, but still jarring and obviously abridging some things.

yes that bothered me quite a bit as well, most of the time they just add unnecessary things which are not said at all in japanese. after a while you just get used to it, it's not that bad

As far as I'm aware, RB;1's localization wasn't considered bad enough to the fandom for anyone to make a patch for it like what happened with RB;2.

You could modify the files yourself if you knew where to look and what to do, but odds are if you had that information, you wouldn't be asking here. So there's essentially no way to get rid of them for a general player.
