And if MegaDimension Victory 2\VII (which I don't have yet) is a new story, how is it also a sequel to HyperDimension V Generation\Victory?
I haven't played beyond Re;Birth1 and U: Action Unleashed, but I plan to get to Re;Birth2 and Hyperdevotion soon.
I'm curious, though, which main games are canon to eachother…
HyperDimension Neptunia - HyperDimension Neptunia Re;Birth1
HyperDimension Neptunia Mk2 - HyperDimension Neptunia Re;Birth2 Sisters Generation
HyperDimension Neptunia Victory - HyperDimension Neptunia Re;Birth3 V Generation
MegaDimension Neptunia Victory 2\VII
These, to my knowledge, are the only games considered canon… However, the Re;Birth series are all remakes - and Neptune says near the begining of Re;Birth1 that the story was changed quite a bit. Is it possible that Victory 2 (VII) follows the original 3 games?
The name is so confusiong; Victory 2 making it a sequel to Victory, it's English title VII being the roman numeral for 7 when there are are only three previous games (remakes are not 'new' entries), and HyperDimension instead of HyperDimension makes things more confusiong since there are no former MegaDimension Neptunia games - thus 'Victory 2' would be moot in this case… So confused…
This game (Superdimension, not Hyperdimension) is non-canon to the series and is a standalone story. Action Unleasehd also takes place in the same dimension.
Megadimension VII follows the canon timeline just like Mk2/Re;Birth2 and Victory/Re;Birth3.
Sorry, this game is HyperDimension, not SuperDimension.
Look at the top of the page and read for yourself.
And seeing as Re;Birth2 Sisters Generation is a sequel to Re;Birth1 (this game) I'm not sure what you're talking about. This is not a discussion for Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls (The only game with SuperDimension in the title that I could find on Steam), it's a discussion for Hyperdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1.

Re;Birth2 is NOT a sequel to this game.
Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Hard Girls is a spin-off that also goes by a different title. I follow what the games are actually called, not what IFI usually pulls out of their ***. Re:Birth1 and Action Unleashed take place in the SAME dimension. while Re;Birth2, 3 and Megadimension follow the Hyperdimension timeline (although the latter two have events that take place in other dimensions.
Calm down.
It actually appears in the intro LOL (although for a brief second).
Which is a problem since the games take place across multiple dimensions and the main cast have dimensional counterparts that look identical. Seeing as how you've played SUPERdimension it wouldn't really be a problem.
Starting from Re;Birth2 and onwards, you're going to be scrathing your head trying to piece together what's going on. IFI can name the game whatever they want just like I can name the games what they were originally supposed to be called.
And again, where does IF put the information RB1 is a spin-off?
They made it pretty clear with the achievements, dialouge, and info boxes that HDNU:AU was a spin-off, but they never seem to clearly state HDN Mk2\HDN RB2 was a reboot of HDN\HDN RB1.
However, having not had the time to play RB2, and going on the synopsis of the game, it takes place after RB1.
If they changed the story between HDN and HDN RB1, who's to say the story wasn't changed between Mk2 and RB2.
Because, to my knowledge, Mk2 means Mark 2, or an upgrade\change to the original. To me, that makes HDN Mk2 a remake of HDN. Thus, it would make sense for them to be different timelines. But then why make RB1 and RB2, as they'd both be remakes of HDN, you'd only need 1.
Unless RB1, RB2, and RB3 are a seperat timeline from Mk2 and Victory?
so:
1 - HDN
2 - Mk2, Victory, VII(?)
3 - RB1, RB2, RB3, VII(?)
And spin-offs are all pretty much their own things.
Anyway, my original question was answered, not having HDN\SDN, Mk2, Victory, or VII, discussing the timeline is rather pointless unless a developer pops in and says what it what, plus it is also off-topic from the original discussion. Sorry about that.
You can start by calling Pac-Man Puck-Man, Mario Mr. Video, Sonic Mr. Needle Mouse, and Pokémon Pocket Monsters.

Superdimension Neptune VS Sega Girls is the spin-off is what I said but it's actually Hyperdimensional War.
Superdimension Neptunia Re;Birth1 is a main installment but it's not canon to the current plot (Re;Birth2, 3, Megadimension). Strangly enough it IS referenced though.
Arfoire and Deity of Sin Arfoire aren't the same character nor do any of the cast have any memories of what occured during Re;Birth1 including the CPU Candidates who are unlockable in the game
The spin-offs are their own thing but they too are referenced in the main installments and vice versa.
