From what I can see, at this point in the story, you should upgrade your equipment. Build the mansion, and inside the mansion, build the blacksmith. This will give you access to better weapons and armor. Another way to make the spider queen fight easier is to swim at the cliff and try to defeat the shark, which will give you oil. You can use the oil to craft a molotov, which burns the webs so you won't get immobilized. You can also find a harpoon in the chest at the cliff; its special ability immobilizes a target, allowing you to immobilize the queen while you deal with the other spiders.
That said, it's hard to give more specific advice since every player has a different play style, but if you're still having trouble, you can level up at the house to make the fight even easier.
I hope this helps!
In any case it does sound like I'm not supposed to be fighting this boss yet, so thanks for that advice.
EDIT: aaah, re-reading your post, I didn't realize the swimsuit would enable me to swim at the cliff. I was able to defeat the Shark there pretty easily for some upgrades, thanks!
Further edit: Regarding iron: I didn't think the red crystals in the Bear room could be mined, let alone that mining them would give me iron. Maybe I missed some dialogue from them but maybe a hint about that would be worth including because it's not very intuitive
