Let's put it this way, people were asking the same thing for The Casting of Frank stone.

Some were able to get it to work for that game on UE5 and were getting around 15-24 fps max. 18FPS avg, not very good for any device.

I test most UE5 releases and get in a lot of alphas, betas, nda games, etc.

My 5800x3d and 6900xt / 6950xt rig rips through every ue5 game on High Preset and 1440p. I can do Ultra on most Ue5 releases but may need to use FSR Quality upscale and or FSR3 FG on some of the less optimized ue5 games.

You should think about building a cheapish ( last gen ) gaming rig on the am4 platform and something mid range gpu like a 6700XT at minimum.

A 6700xt rips through most UE5 games just fine, especially if you make the use of Upscale and or FG. Just build a well balanced system with a good CPU and 32gb ddr4 ram, cheap nvme 2tb drive. Windows cd key is like $5-20 online.

You can build and equivalent rig to mine now for $1200-$1250 US that runs ue5 at high or ultra preset 100fps avg + depending on the game.

Here is a mid range below
UE5 mid range build

5600x minimum recommended - $124
B450M new motherboard - $69.99
32gb ddr4 3200mhz ram - $50-$55
2TB NVME gen4 - $115-$120 (6000-7000mb/s)
240mm all in one water cooler - $55-$70 - overkill but future proof you can get by with a $30-$35 heatsink/fan
Standard atx case / mid tower - $50-70
Windows cd key from various sites online - $5-$20
700W PSU $50 -$60 Name brand mid tier
--------------------------------
Video cards you can go Used or new so many options
New 6700xt - $299
You can find used / refurbished 6700xt for $249 sometimes

Approx $750-$800

I don't think anyone really desires steam deck support.

I think the devs have said steam proton support is planned and they've chosen an anti-cheat option that is linux compatible

No Linux, no sale.

...and...

for those suggesting spending $800 to build and maintain a cheap M$ Windows system for gaming... to play a $27 game... sigh. Where are you getting your seeds, cuz the ♥♥♥♥ I grow don't get me THAT high.

Seems like at least one person does, otherwise they wouldn't have made this thread.

To be fair, I don't think you're capable of thinking?

The OP literally just opened up a thread because they desire steam deck support.

Is it clicking now?

I've heard in most videos that the DEVs had said it will run on steam deck just not 60 fps, honestly I'll be happy with 30fps in 720p
Steam Deck is only really good as a portable emulator or retro pixel platformer machine. Struggles with almost anything post 2016. Not holding out much hope.

Nice reddit attitude. I meant as a product. They probably would make more money sidestepping that task if their won't be enough steamdeck players, and they have to ask will the graphical effects compromise the experience they're trying to give the player with lower end hardware.

If you put geforce now on it, it can run anything. Kinda defeating the purpose I know, but there are solutions.

With the $750-$800 Tower you can play all UE5 games with AT LEAST 6-8X the performance while at a higher resolution and higher quality settings. Probably 8X or more if you think about it.

With the steam deck on UE5 you are going to be down to about 420 / 480P or maybe 720P max because you will absolutely have to rely on Upscale / lowering the screen percentage down to 50% or even more towards 33%.

You can always dual boot on the PC and its not just for this one game, it will play all games and all UE5 8x better + than the Steamdeck.

The steam deck is fine for older games, and the newer ones with the oled have a good screen, but you cant even make use of that screen if you are having to use upscale / lower the screen percentage down to 420p/480p/640p/720p and after all of that you are still getting poor performance on UE5 games.

I have been and stayed on Win 10 ever since right before windows 7 was about to be phased out and have had zero issues on it. The first year or 2 yes windows can be buggy I won't argue that, but I waited a better part of 2+ years after it came out before I switched over.

If you can't keep a windows 10 machine running good this day in time, its not a windows issue its a user related problem. I have had zero issues, zero infections. You just need to have some common sense and not click on ads or fake links and you are good to go.

The only half decent steam decks are the $400+ ones and most people buy accessories on top of it. So you are already at $400-$500 easily right off the bat. For $400 more you could have built a mid range gaming tower with 8x the performance.

1440p 144hz monitors are super cheap now, can be had for $109-$120 all day long. You can even find refurbished 120hz for under $99 if you look around.

A basic logitech or microsoft keyboard and mouse is all you need to. Keyboards and mice are cheap now $20 each or on sale $30 for a pair in a box. Or use a controller or existing console one you have laying around.

$900 tops all in if you had to buy everything if you didn't already have a Monitor / tv, or Mouse and keyboard and misc accessories.

So, $400 more tops with 8x the performance sounds good after all. You are paying for the mobility on the handhelds, but losing out on 8x the performance.
