You are also not meant to fight them. You are meant to avoid them. You are not That Guy. You can stun Grabber for few seconds with sustained fire, but it is meant to only let you break line of sight and sprint to cover, not to actually take them down.
Doggy thing is called Grabber. Stalker is invisible version of Grabber.
Trick to surviving Stalker or Grabber is to get into tight spaces. They are big units, they can't fit into bunkers and others.
If they do die they don't have any animations or drop anything, so those aspects seem to not be in the game yet with current hp being place holder.
In case they are on you or blocking your path, shooting them will give you a few seconds and might force them to retreat.
Medium mech are destroyable but it take more than 12 grenades to the head/upper torso area, so you better do it from far enough and with cover close by to avoid the barrage of insta-kill explosives ammo.
They drop 3 boxes with mech parts and one in the burning wreckage (so 4 in total) so you can get quite a good amount of money out of them.
ive wasted hundreds of grenades on mediums to no avail. i knock the boxs and the armor stuff off them but then on the one or two occasions ive gotten one down i couldnt find any loot. had the same trouble with the corpse tank. i can never find the panel for the quest cuz i never see any loot anywhere near it. been rocking the pack mule fully upgraded and just hoovering up loot with the tab space to loot all (thanks again guy who gave us all that gem)
i had tried to kill a mother for the luls when she was fighting a corpse tank and they just stood there rubbing up against each other while the tank kept blasting her directly in the face. stood there about 15 mins before i said heck with this. wasnt really invested in it. the doggo on the other hand? i wanna kill that purely for spite.
this explains some things. i was wailing on toothy for a long time (took in a ton of ammo in the pack mule ) and he just suddenly vanished. i figured it bugged out. looked all over tryin to find him too. once in a while i see a mech go launching wayyy up into the air so wasnt sure. i wont talk about tank physics ....
We have all this hard and software and all we can come up with is Assassins Creed 5000 xD
There usually are boxes nearby, but they can be hard to spot. It's usually easier with the X-ray camera.
Also, the wreckage itself is lootable when destroyed. But the loot burn very fast (like probably in less than a minute). For mechs you need to loot the leg, and for tanks it's at the back of the vehicle. Tanks have better loot in the wreckage than in the boxes (where it's usually just food items).
you might also often have to take burn damage to loot them, the trade-off becomes more manageable at higher prestige when you have more maximum health.
Scavengers are pretty low on threat priorities, so if you can get say Corpse Merkava get close enough for Mother Courage or Grabber, they will focus on those rather than on the lowly scanveger.
You are insignificant threat to them, and you should use that to your advantage by giving them higher priority target and sneak away.
