The Forever Winter

OK So a question for those farther in
I am personally enjoying the game but right this moment I am finding myself rather frustrated. Two or 3 types of mobs are getting me rather ticked and i cant seem to figure out how to kill them. The weird 4 legged dog robot mostly seen on scorch when the mothercourage are out and everything's snowy and stacks of bones everywhere. i can never deal with these things. i've tried the HMG , the grenade launcher , i've tried the antitank rifle. cant kill the darn thing no matter what i do. add on top of that medium mechs kick my butt almost every single time. toothy in particular. the fact that the mediums act like they're not looking at you but they're trying to find a path to get to you the entire time and then suddenly they get over / past the obstacle blocking their way and suddenly you've got a grenade shell up someplace uncomfortable.

any tips on how to deal with these? i kill HK's all the time np. the exos , and even some of the mediums if i'm lucky. but the mediums like toothy , and the dog looking one I've got zero kills on. there's gotta be a way. am i missing some weapon that's imperative to this?

oh and i love how toothy and his kind of mech get close to the building your in or the exit pipe on scorch and stomp / punch you thru the side of the thing with no warning whatsoever
like surprise mothertrucker!

you're not meant to kill Toothy or the Stalker (I think that's what the dog is called). Avoid or run, but never fight them.

wait so impossible to kill? cmon that cant be it. if so ive wasted sooooooooooooo many grenades and a heck of a lot of time

also that dog thing is on me like white on rice if i so much as sneeze. or look at a container to loot sideways

Mother Courage have billion hitpoints. You can't kill them. Same with Grabbers, the dog like cyborgs. They are functionally immortal, you can't bring enough ammution to take them down.

You are also not meant to fight them. You are meant to avoid them. You are not That Guy. You can stun Grabber for few seconds with sustained fire, but it is meant to only let you break line of sight and sprint to cover, not to actually take them down.

Doggy thing is called Grabber. Stalker is invisible version of Grabber.

Also the orgamechs are functionally invincible as well. I see them mostly on Scorched Enclave wandering around the extract. They’re not as large as the exos, so it can be a bit of a surprise they can’t actually be killed.

If stalker sees you (unless rival troops are around) it’s over, it runs several times faster than you can and can kill you in one shot.

Trick to surviving Stalker or Grabber is to get into tight spaces. They are big units, they can't fit into bunkers and others.

I think they will be classically killable but at the moment those units are virtually unkillable.
If they do die they don't have any animations or drop anything, so those aspects seem to not be in the game yet with current hp being place holder.

for stalker/grabber, cut pathfinding. Climbing on/ dropping from heights, or jumping aboves tall trenches, will allow you to widen the gap with them and let you either reach another point where you can do it again or reach the extract.

In case they are on you or blocking your path, shooting them will give you a few seconds and might force them to retreat.

Medium mech are destroyable but it take more than 12 grenades to the head/upper torso area, so you better do it from far enough and with cover close by to avoid the barrage of insta-kill explosives ammo.
They drop 3 boxes with mech parts and one in the burning wreckage (so 4 in total) so you can get quite a good amount of money out of them.

generally i can escape the doggo but sometimes if i manage to irritate the local cyborgs he just appears well inside my a** with no possibility of escape. i get the whole were not supposed to be rambo but cmon man. at least give me a fighting chance. going from zero to anal destruction in .0054 seconds is not ok lol.

ive wasted hundreds of grenades on mediums to no avail. i knock the boxs and the armor stuff off them but then on the one or two occasions ive gotten one down i couldnt find any loot. had the same trouble with the corpse tank. i can never find the panel for the quest cuz i never see any loot anywhere near it. been rocking the pack mule fully upgraded and just hoovering up loot with the tab space to loot all (thanks again guy who gave us all that gem)

i had tried to kill a mother for the luls when she was fighting a corpse tank and they just stood there rubbing up against each other while the tank kept blasting her directly in the face. stood there about 15 mins before i said heck with this. wasnt really invested in it. the doggo on the other hand? i wanna kill that purely for spite.

this explains some things. i was wailing on toothy for a long time (took in a ton of ammo in the pack mule ) and he just suddenly vanished. i figured it bugged out. looked all over tryin to find him too. once in a while i see a mech go launching wayyy up into the air so wasnt sure. i wont talk about tank physics .... :steamfacepalm:

It's like others have said: there are enemies you shouldn't fight/kill, and that's a good thing. Finally a game that has the guts to do it. Now the generation of handheld gamers just needs to learn to get used to it and it will be one of the best games ever made in gaming history. Because it's finally time to take a different approach to gaming. I'm so sick of the 0815-BS that I can't watch them anymore. I even think SM2 is a trash game by now :-/

We have all this hard and software and all we can come up with is Assassins Creed 5000 xD

There usually are boxes nearby, but they can be hard to spot. It's usually easier with the X-ray camera.

Also, the wreckage itself is lootable when destroyed. But the loot burn very fast (like probably in less than a minute). For mechs you need to loot the leg, and for tanks it's at the back of the vehicle. Tanks have better loot in the wreckage than in the boxes (where it's usually just food items).

you might also often have to take burn damage to loot them, the trade-off becomes more manageable at higher prestige when you have more maximum health.

Best way to handle these unkillable enemies is to either avoid them or get them fight someone else.

Scavengers are pretty low on threat priorities, so if you can get say Corpse Merkava get close enough for Mother Courage or Grabber, they will focus on those rather than on the lowly scanveger.

You are insignificant threat to them, and you should use that to your advantage by giving them higher priority target and sneak away.
