The Forever Winter

The Forever Winter

Where is it set?
There's a an apparent permanent solar eclipse, but in what kind of system can this be possible, and can life thrive in this setting? Is it a Lagrange point with unstable orbits or is actually a planet orbiting a black hole but it looks strange due to the planets atmosphere? Just curious about this.

Well it’s on earth. And it’s set in the city of lost angels.

If that's the case they have to come up with some kind of explanation, because the "it looks cool" doesn't cut it for me. It looks cool tho.

Just imagine the occupying power came with their Garrison9512 and parked it in front of the local sun so the living organisms on the occupied zone can starve out faster and guarantee a faster walkover. x)

It doesn't have to be realistic. It's make-believe. Use your imagination. I'm sure they could come up with many excuses, but it's likely never anything that would carry any logic behind it. Be it electronic keeping the planet alive, cuz they made their own energy source that require no solar or other need. It could be one of the factions used tech to stop the moon infront of the sun, to kill out another occupying faction that relied on solar. They have space ships. So maybe they harvest sun energy and go back and use the energy on earth somehow. Who knows. Don't expect too much logic from it.

I would probably say somewhere in or near the Baltics given names like, Europa, Eurasia and Euruska.

you could go with some sort of matrix scenario
think about a war in current times where countries start using more and more mechanized military units
maybe it was to block solar power production (altough war machines have not been known to be THAT environmentally friendly) or maybe a move of propaganda, show of force, intimidation or something in which the sky was artificially polluted to block out the sun

speaking of pollution
if this war has been lasting for decades or centuries the world might be f :trolol: cked up enough to be so engulfed in smoke/dust/particles that it seems to be permanent eclipse?

idk though

Well if you seen the AniMatrix this makes sense. That version of Earth pre Matrix humanity actually blocked out the Earth from the sun. In order to win the war against the Machines that were solar powered at the time. Lets just say that didn't go well for humanity once the Machines "adapted". This game also has a vibe of the game "Outriders" as well once humanity found a viable planet to live on. Things went horribly wrong there as well.

I'm proposing another theory, one where Monty Burns got away with his plan of blocking the sun. It all makes sense now :bonfire2:

It's set in the city of Lost Angels... Los Angelas is like two letters removed from that.

I believe it's kinda based on that origin story of the men/machine war in Animatrix. In that scenario we tried to Block Out The Sun somehow which made everything look weird. Maybe it's something similar?
