The first handful of hours I had no HK's spawn when doing my fair share of taking out units, and looting, and suddenly HK's spawn in after looting 14 - 16 supplies left by corpses.
As for Night Shift? Manage to wipe out less than 10 units, and HK's spawn in. Personally, I find it somewhat idiotic for elite units to come hunting down a Scav that is simply looting, unless breaking into anything of high value? Just seems to be a reach, and does more to annoy than cause anything else.
From what I've ready up on, 4 big items usually get you in trouble. So it might have been the water.
(Hks are recruiting units nearby is fine, but not in the first 5 minutes) ... :-/
Pretty sure that's what happened. Large items have pretty big credit values and so give you a lot of heat. Yes, including '0 credits' valued water. (Which I'm reasonably sure has a huge heat value to it. More than a Lockbox I think.)
The spawning issue definitely needs work, but large items tend to be valuable enough to get attention you do not want.
lore wise they're meant to be following a GPS tracker,
but given ive had it/them trigger from picking up freaking AMMO...
Also getting gear back is different, now i need to extract after activating my corpse beacon.
