The Forever Winter

King Of Kings is such a dumb quest.... why does it really on LUCK?!
You would think a Quest that REQUIRES the Rat King to Spawn and Kill things would Guarontee he spawns! NOPE! Hell in my entire "career" of play this game iv only ever seen him TWICE. Once on Scourched Enclanve and Once today on Elephant mausalium.

WHY DOES THIS QUEST REQUIRE LUCK OF THE DRAW! I feel like i'm wasting my own time doing this quest. On paper its one of easyest quests in the game but NOOOOOO, Rat King just doesn't want to show Up and kill enough stuff I guess.

I mean you can have up to 3 quests active so you don't have to do one at a time, try a prayer in the shrine (it might help) :waifu:

not exactly a HELPFUL response. Yeah, I know I got 3 quest slots, I just want to do this quest Specifically and its driving me insane that its seemingly LUCK based. 25 Rat King Resudue doesn't sound like a lot, but so far iv seen him kill like 10 guys (gotten 19 so far) and then walk to areas you can't get to cus of MINES.

Iv looked up WHERE he spawns, Iv found all the info I can on this MOFO. Not sure how long its been since the wiki got updated but he spawns on at least 3 maps in a very specific spot, I keep going to those places and..... not much luck. Its just RANDOM if he shows up or not. You would think the Shrine would help.... (its not like it gives you a message that he will, not that iv seen anyway) its still a little Random weather he shows up or not.

Every other Scavenger type quest that needs you find a specific thing is pretty easy to do. Except the Turret parts quest, but that is still easyer then hoping the Rat King spawns.
I'm sorry my response wasn't helpful but when the Rat King spawns is up to the map and the game, I used to see him fairly often on Scorched. It's a case of like it or lump it I'm afraid. Cancel it if you don't like it, the reward for completing it doesn't really seem like anything to write home about :GardenLove:

well, thanks all the same. I'm just doing it for the hell of it at this point. Cus yeah the rewards are not worth this much of a headache. 2 days a of water, 5k XP, a few thousand credits. Not worth it in the slightest. (seriously been playing this since 10pm, its 6am and he only spawned TWICE! Which honestly is probably Lucky for most people)

So yeah, like I said its just a Dumb quest. Rewards are not worth this much headache, like just SPAWN the guy in guaranteed just to show him off. (you would think thats the whole point of this quest, to show off the rat king) 10s of hours in and iv only seen him 3 times total. Heck I don't even think its tracking the quest item properly ether, says I only got 9 but i got 16 in my stash.... sooooo yeah that doesn't help ether.

If I can't find him or enough residue tomorrow im definitely dumping this quest and never doing it again.
As far as I'm concerned Scorched Enclave is the place, and whilst prayer in the shrine is no guarantee I've been led to believe that it marginally changes the odds, but yes that could just be placebo or wishful thinking :waifu:

My advice? Don't take the quest. Stock up on rat guts when you find the Rat King, hoard them. The new updates include the ability to turn most quest items in at any time (with the exception of the memento quests), meaning you can hoard rare items, then take the quest associated with them and cash in. That includes rat guts.

Oh really, you can do that? Makes sense given I find quest items all the time.

It doesn't work for every quest but most of them allow it now. It was an intended addition in the last patch. I guess that's the dev's answer to quests with requirements that take hundreds of games. You can also save up a ton of the required resource and repeatedly turn it in but that I suspect is unintended.

The real funny thing about that quest is that looting the rat king quest loot will spawn Hunter Killers and depending on which Hunter Killer Spawns you have to extract immediately.
So I completed it just once and never accepted the quest again. xD
And funny thing is that if you drop the quest item on ground to organize your rig,
you can't pick it up again... Rat King residue.

But it's really cool to watch 'The Rat King Action' while eating potato chips. ;)

Believe it or not, it feels like praying at the altar increases your chances of seeing him.

whaaat?!? are you telling me you want these big mechs to actually do stuff instead of standing in one spot all day or just dancing around each other... dude you're crazy.

Wouldn't the King "protect you"? If only briefly since he has the same HP as a Medium Mech. Although I think he lacks some of the "attacks" the normal Medium Mechs have.

Still the thought of seeing this mother truck pick up a Grabber HK and chuck telling it to "SIT THE F DOWN!" is hilarious.

Tarkov quests usually rely on luck. It's not a new concept.

That doesn't make it a good idea, just that there's precedent for a bad one. Most people will just avoid quests that require so many attempts to complete. At that point the devs will either have to kneecap all the quests that can be reasonably completed, destroying the quest system in the process, or accept that only a small fraction of players will ever bother with these type of quests.

Well as bit of an Added note. I can say the same thing about the Tank Component quests. Mostly cus when the tanks explode Physics ceases to apply to them and they get YEETED all over the place. I have managed to figured out what all the "locked" boxes are though..... But you need DRILLS to brake them open.

The Problem is..... If their are supposed to be MANY boxes most of them don;t seem to spawn cus the tank just goes "YEET" every time they explode. Like you would think the Boxes would just spawn around where the Flaming REKT of hte tank SHOULD BE but no..... they get flung all over the map.

Makes it pretty hard to retreive tank componets when your looking for a SPECIFIC BOX but all your finding is the Food containers.
