It's a real shame, I was interested in this game but as soon as I heard about that, it was an instant turn off. You'd think if the majority shared the same opinion then the devs would actually reconsider removing it in the future.
So whats the point of it then if its so easy to avoid?
May as well remove it if there's no threat of it actually doing anything
Writing the game off for having a mechanic that does nothing but remove progress if you don't babysit the game isn't something to wright off the entire game? To each their own I suppose
If they keep the offline decay the only way for it to go is down. It either stays irrelevant like it is, or becomes an actual threat to removing your progress if they add to it.
And yes, loosing items is loosing progress. If you're then gonna state that "you dont loose anything important" or something like that then that just further exasperates the point of why have it?
It's either irrelevant to the game and only serves to annoy or its a chore that demands your time. In both cases why does it exist?
Again. If its so easy to avoid. Why is it there?
Why should I have to play ANY offline single player game for 5-10 mins a day?
Yeah, I know what early access means. Played a bunch of them. None of them had a mechanic that removed progress if I didnt baby sit them and a lot of them had things like road maps.
As for being "lazy"? Come on dude. You're not that dumb. People play games because they WANT to. Not because they HAVE to. Not wanting to engage with a game that holds my progress to ransom if I dont baby sit it has nothing to do with being "lazy"
And every other game that wants to be baby sat is a multiplayer only game in which a wipe mechanic serves a purpose of keeping the playing field level for new players. And a lot of them can be turned off if you want to play a private server/solo such as V rising and Rust.
Again what purpose does this one serve?
thats why i called it being lazy, its probably easier to say the game is crap instead of learning how to play, all i said its stupid to call a game s h i t because of something that can be ignored pretty much, and saying they should remove it if its so easy to get over is also kinda retarded, ammo is also easy to get should they remove that as well ? since its so easy to avoid? or health that resets progress if that reaches zero should they make you imortal to make people like you happy ?
I mean its a mechanic that's simple, adds nothing, and is a chore that forces people to engage with it even if they dont want to.
The fact the only defence of it is "Its easy to ignore" isn't a good look for a supposed "hardcore" game.
As for asking it to be removed. What does it add to the experience? How would the game be worse if it was removed?
Getting rid of ammo and health are in no way the same but I'll humour you.
Removing ammo removes an element of resource management when it comes to looting and how much you're willing to spend to take down enemies/how much space you're willing to give to ammo vs how much loot you want. Removing ammo changes the fundamental game play loop. Removing water does not as it is so easy to avoid that it does nothing until you do not play the game.
Removing health and loosing loot on death removes stakes and tension. This changes the atmosphere of the game and again, fundamentally changes the game play loop and world feel. Removing water does not change this. Water is, as you have said, easy to get and nothing to worry about. So removing it changes nothing.
Also, just a quick edit. The issue with water is the OFFLINE timer. It serves no game play purpose. Change it to be offline only and make it actually difficult and I'd be all over this game
"If you can't get on at least once per 90 days you have bigger issues then games mate"
THIS IS EXACTLY WHY WE COMPLAIN ABOUT THE OFFLINE DEGRADATION!
I really don't know how this cannot fit in the space between the ears of people that support the system: YES THERE ARE MORE IMPORTANT THINGS IN LIFE THAT VIDEO GAMES, WHICH IS WHY GAMES THAT PUNISH YOU BECAUSE YOU WERE GONE FOR XX DAYS ARE BAD!
Also add to the idea that it's actually a "trivial" system once you play enough then why is the system necessary? This system is just an arbitrary gatekeeping mechanic to punish people for having a life that takes precedent over a video game! If it's so easy to bypass the issue of the offline mechanic then DO AWAY WITH IT!
Honestly though with all the other bugs and issues I hear from the people that do play this game at length I think I'm better off not giving my money to this one at this point. Maybe when the stealth mechanics work and the enemies don't spawn ontop of you and I won't be punished if the game falls to my back burner for months I'd give it a serious look again.
