"DirectX 12 is not supported on your system"

"DirectX 12 is not supported on your system. Try running without the -dx12 or -d3d12 command line argument." I just get this error message when i try to open the game and nothing else. Does anyone have a fix to this? fairly certain i have directx12 and my drivers are up to date.

I am having this issue as well but when I type dx12 in the search bar it doesnt show up, I guess I'm one of the ones that dxdiag lies to about having dx11.x . heres hoping some one might come along with a solution though.

Should you provide the following info, people will be able to tell you exactly what's wrong and what you can do about it:

Go to Steam client > Help > System Information

Copy and paste here the following info:

DirectX Card: 

In Windows > Start Menu > Settings > System > About > Windows specifications

Hit "Copy", and paste it here as well:

Note for Linux:
- You still need to bave HW support for VK_KHR_shader_atomic_int64
- you still need Proton/Wine version with Agility SDK support

To clarify, you only have integrated graphics and no separate (ie discrete) graphics card?

If so, then you can't run the game because the game requires a dedicated GPU. The minimum requirements lists a 2080 super even. In general, games that cannot be run on integrated graphics tend to have this error message pop up even though the APU technically supports directx 12. This is because directx 12 has various versions and the APU might not be fully equipped to support all of its features. It might also be the same reason for other games that you are unable to run.

Unreal Engine 5, which this game is based on, is rather particular about this due to its more demanding nature.

Besides, even if you could run the game, the performance would likely be too terrible to bear.....like single digit fps on 720p all low.

You will NOT be able to play any Unreal Engine 5 game that is using the new features such as Nanite, Lumen or Virtual Shadow Maps.
Keep in mind that your laptop is significantly below minimum hardware requirements for all these games.
