This game used to be a crypto game
So I follow a youtuber called Jauwn who specializes in uncovering terrible crypto games. In his latest video on Gala Games I was surprised to see Forever Winter come up. Apparently this game was supposed to be a crypto game on the exceptionally terrible Gala Games platform. Upon learning this I immediately refunded the game since I hadn't been able to play much (had major performance issues). I might re-purchase later if the performance issues are fixed and this actually turns out to be legit, but as soon as I heard these people used to be involved in crypto, my trust for the team plummeted.

I think people should be aware of this before they spend their money on this. I'm not saying it's 100% going to be a cashgrab, but just be very cautious when dealing with anything relating to crypto or web3. That space is absolutely rife with scammers

For reference, here's the video;

Wake me up when this actually matters, this is coming from someone played Breakpoint when Ubisoft tried implementing NFTs in it

Concerning, but not overly so.

Well, shoot... I'm past the refund point. Sad.
Only thing left to do is wait and see, hoping they deliver and stand by their new messaging.

the reason for the game running slow is the engine it uses and the games not optomized, it's not a crypto. and the major breaking point on why people don't wanna buy the game is the fact is they hate the water timer system which isn't being changed.
you don't own the game and you're just adding to the drama.

It's a good thing that they changed their mind. Anything associated with that Web3 crap is slop made manifest.

Jauwn said this in the comments of the video in response to a guy saying he was shocked about TFW being on the list:

"@MechaMonkeyz I would not attribute anything with the games current state to Gala. As far as I could find, they had already started work on the game and were shopping for publishers. Gala was the first to bite so they went with Gala.

Gala was going to force them to add NFTs (plus gala just sucks to work with) so they left really early on. Gala did not announce the departure until 3 months ago but I am pretty sure that departure happened shortly after the Galaverse convention

I did reach out to Fun Dog for a formal comment about a month ago when I was working on the script but they did not respond.

Anyway, to direct any hate or attribute any aspect of The Forever Winter to NFTs or Gala would be baseless and irrelevant.

Judge the game in isolation, if it’s good it’s good if it’s bad it’s bad."

In the vaporware section of the video, mentioning that the partnership ended, and the game released without nfts or any sort of online integrations at all.

So basically, no longer relevant even from the details mentioned by itself.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hibg4T8FNGQ&t=602s Here's another youtuber that talked about the indie gala even mentioning The Forever Winter. TLDR The Forever Winters devs/team went cut ties with Gala after the whole crypto debacle and this youtuber may have had some help averting TFW from such a fate. He was also seen in the forever winter credits.

You mean OP is spreading misinformation/leaving out details? Intentionally? ON THE INTERNET? SURELY NOT.

To be fair, that video isn't easy to find (look at the views). But I do think them taking a quick glance at the comments would have filled the gaps.

Devs sewing deep by reaching out to people like this. Imagine that, a drama thread uncovers nothing but good looks for them.

Have your clown OP.

Cool story bro...Steam doesn't allow those sorts of games on this platform. Get over yourself and your "research".
