Is this game a massive troll?
I want to love this game. It has amazing style and aesthetics.
But....damn is it a sloppy mess lol

Problem areas that need to be refined/tweaked/explained:
- The water system
it seems no one can truly explain this mechanic . I've read several posts and have gotten several "explanations" that seem.... kinda.... right based on what I've experienced in game.

- The Prestige system
WTH is the point of it? Just award experience points and let the player spend them. Tried and tested game mechanic.
But in the meantime, can you please >SHOW< me what the benefits of leveling Prestige will be so I can decide if I want to reset my skills at the moment or not? Jesus.....

- The interaction cursor
I sneak my way into an area where 5-6 NPC troopers were killed and their supply pack and weapons are laying right next to each other. I have to waste time trying to "unlock" the interact option off of 'loot supplies' to try and lock it on the weapon.
It only works about half the time before the weapon de-spawns or I have to retreat from incoming enemy units.
This is extremely annoying.
WTF is up with this lol? Please tighten up the interaction point so that you need to center your POV right on the item to interact with it.

- Bugged movement (this ones really sloppy lol)
After looting a dead enemy's supply pack, I exit the loot window and then I cannot move forward. This has happened at least 20x. It's like I'm bumping into an invisible wall. I literally have to move backwards....in order to be able to move forward again. W-T-F?

-Wall jumping
Sometimes I can climb a wall at a specific place....... and sometimes I can't.

These are my main gripes atm. There's other little things that I know are part and parcel in a early access game like the Forever Winter Space Program that keeps trying to launch tanks into the cosmos, and the ♥♥♥♥♥♥ way the humanoid enemies move in a stutter when viewed through a scope.

Thanks.

Early Access Game

WHAT THE DEVELOPERS HAVE TO SAY:
Why Early Access?
“We’re launching The Forever Winter in Early Access to actively involve our community in the game's development. This approach allows us to gather valuable feedback, continuously improve gameplay, and build a dedicated player base. The theme of FW is collaboration to overcome unrelenting circumstances, and we believe strong collaboration with the community will be key to making this title iconic.”
Approximately how long will this game be in Early Access?
“While the timing will ultimately depend on the user response during Early Access, our goal is to take the game out of Early Access after a year of iterating with the community. We will provide the player community as well as those in our social and Steam communities with regular updates throughout the Early Access process to give folks a better understanding of when the hardware requirement, volume of content or localization will be in-line with the experience they strive for.”
How is the full version planned to differ from the Early Access version?
“The full version will feature more content which we plan to update on a regular cadence during early access. We've also been blown away by the reception to our content on YouTube and the amount of discussion around the world of The Forever Winter, so want to feature more in-world lore. On the enemy side, we also want to feature more advanced bosses for players to engage (or run from) around our levels.”
What is the current state of the Early Access version?
“We have 4 finished maps, a handful playable characters, and dozens of weapons to choose from. We are looking to continue to telegraph content updates and even involve the community in upvoting updates they are most looking forward to. Please take note of the recommended hardware specs in order to ensure you get the intended experience.”
Will the game be priced differently during and after Early Access?
“While we will strive to keep the pricing reasonable and as consistent as possible, we also want to ensure that, as a small independent studio, we will have enough dry powder and flexibility to continue to invest in the game and, thus, could see a higher price after Early Access.”
How are you planning on involving the Community in your development process?
“We plan to actively involve the community in our development process through various feedback channels, including Discord, forums, and social media, where players can share their thoughts and suggestions.”
