SCAR vs SVD
If the scar is using 50 cal ammo, which doesnt seem right, why does it do less damage than the SVD which uses 7.62. SVD is currently my favorite weapon but wish it was Heavy Rifle. Heavy Rifles should stagger more if they currently do not. It seems they do but unsure whats what in this game so far.

stats are placeholders

Yea, that's fair considering it is early access. Well I guess consider it just highlighting an issue they can fix when they get around to it.

obviously because .50 is less than 7.62 hurrdurr

Or the SCARs are poorly made, leading to loss of acceleration of the round, leading to less force upon impact. It wouldn't be a far fetched since most conventional SCAR variants are designed to chamber 7.62 or 5.56. A 50 cal SCAR would either be some sort of future design or adaptation/modification.

Right now, regardless of their stats SVD > SCAR, simply because it does not use .50cal, that ammo is exclusively reserved for my Painless which eats it by about 1k rounds per run.
I never end up using SVD anyway, RPK does just as well and have much higher DPS in full auto mode.
Stats are placeholders for sure, I learned that when playing scav girl and trying out SMGs, none of them make sense if you look at the ammo they use and the damage they do in practice. Vector can kill a tank almost as fast as RPK can (both have similar rate of fire as well), never mind that neither should be able to do anything more than scratch it, but you are comparing 762 fired out of a machine gun to 9mm ammo fired out of an SMG.
I'm not asking for realism though, just some kind of consistency in game, with reliable feedback and descriptions on gear. It will get fixed eventually, I hope.

The barrel isn't long enough for 50 cal to reach a proper velocity.

I really hope you're being sarcastic.

The SCAR sucks imo. I use the SVD 45r all day long. It even out performs the .50 cal antimatter rifle in the game.

Nah man he is serious. This game is based in a utopia where guns no longer use the metric system and instead use the imperial system CALIBER>MM

I know of a beowulf 50 cal AR platform but never seen the Scar 50 cal. Honestly even if it was for sale it would be a pointless platform. It would waste the power of a extremely long range round. If you want 50 cal power in a close/mid range package use slugs in your mag fed shotgun. Personally the 308/7.62 cartridge is all i use (both RL and Game) as it should have enough power to put down anything not heavily armored. And in this game the SVD can hit just about anything. They bum rush my sniper nest, thats why i have a drum mag on my shotty. Choke point ftw.
