The Forever Winter

Enemies at a glance
Has anyone worked out good rules of thumb for telling various non-mech infantry troop types apart? I know that they can be tagged to be identified, but that doesn't really last long enough for me to associate that name with a silhouette.

So far I've noticed that a lot of euraskan troops have bulkier outfits, with eurasians having more compact troop designs and europans falling somewhere in between, with the exception of EOD troops. Audio cues for opans usually include radio chatter and for sians its cyborg groans, but I have noticed anything like that for skans.

Any tips?

ping feature (Z key) allows you to check what unit you see now. And it marks target in coop

Once ya play enough you'll learn the subtle differences.

Europans wear the more square hats. Normal troops carry Scar Assault Rifles, but there's Spotter/Snipers that use the 50 Cal Sniper. They have EOD troops that are thicker with a visor on and HK's which look very similar to the EODs, both carry MG34s.

Euruskans are pretty easy to spot with their Pointy Hats and Big Trench Coats, there's really subtle differences in the Trench Coat ones, some carry AKs, some carry RPKS, some Officers carry Grenade Launchers and a few carry the rare RPD LMG.

And ofc Eurasians and their various types of Cyborgs are super easy to notice the differences with. Brawlers being their Tankier Shock Troops.
Just from a small glance I am able to see if europan troops are regs, snipers and EODs, the last two are usually in teams of three

Yeah identifying the Euraskan officers is important, those grenade launchers aren't a joke. Do the euraskans have any audio cues?

Everyone is EUR_sumthin', Enemies, quest givers..

I feel like I'm not supposed to shoot at one of these factions? I'm I supposed to pick a side?

I kinda know not to shoot at tanks, mech suits or gothohmamis, or at anything that looks like a space marine.

Basically there are 3 factions; Eurasia, Euruska and Europa.
Euruska + Eurasia = allied against Europa.
Basically, killing members of one side of the war will tip the scales re: your personal faction rating. I am unsure about selling to vendors, and how much that may influence the game beyond simple vendor discount mechanics. I'd like it if selling intel items/killing faction members had an impact on the maps as well.

If you want more in-depth info, I highly suggest web searching "the Forever Winter game wiki", it has covered a lot of this, as well as enemy types, weapons, lore sources etc.
