Friends In Hostile Places Soft Lock

Im trying to love the game, even doing a good job of looking past all the massive flaws. The ones that are killing it for me, and will cause me to put the game now is Friends in Hostile places. Its just 3 missions in, and I can't complete it due to a few permutations of glitches. Issue A) If you don't kill the drone yourself the body will despawn within 1 minute. B) If you do kill the mech yourself you have 1 minute and cant be engaged. C) They have a low ish spawn rate at maybe 30-40% spawn rate, and then of those maybe 1 out of 7 games I can actually kiill one before it gets destroyed. 1 out of 20 games I get to the hull before it despawns. The two times I've got the items, I've A) had 7 zombies spawn into my body B) tried to grab one from beside a tank, suprisingly my head couldnt tank a main cannon round. Bummer, anyone seen a solid workaround for the ♥♥♥♥♥ de-spawning? I can deal with all the other issues, but that one kills it

Also in a similar boat : the difficulty spike for this mission is a little too much for me; there's too much going on for me to be able to reliably collect a single drone scrap, let alone 3 in one session. Not to mention I've had sessions where not a single drone even spawns. Also, trying to destroy a drone usually results in me getting the attention of everything on the map and instantly dying in a tsunami of bullets.

hi i think this quest has a bug, because after several attempts, i have been finally able to get 3 of the required drone parts, (2 in one mission, and 1 in another), but there is no option to hand them in for the quest, even though all 3 are in my stash (and i could sell them to a trader if i chose that option)

This is bugged for me as well. I have 3 parts and the quest is not completable.

You won't had them in, but do double check they are parts for the correct drone. if the quest isn't updating.
Mech Trench or Ashen Mesa can be good for them.

ah hi i checked and it was 3 correct parts that i had, but once i got a 4th drone part of it, the quest let me hand them in - maybe it actually needed 4, or it only counts those parts (IF you obtain them after starting the quest) - i might have picked one up before i reached that quest.

(but i think the quest should still let you complete it that way too, unless you play multiplayer and they didnt want friends just dropping items for others to quick complete quests?) :)

I just got the 3rd part but the quest complete has not triggered. Only took 10 hours.

10 HOURS!

This may not be a quest at all but the main story line.

You have to accept the quest, and then get all of the parts. Parts in your stash before the quest is accepted don't count, and if the quest is interrupted and made inactive by, say, the Water Bandit Defense mission, you've gotta start all over again.

Ashen Mesa is a good map for this mission if you start at ruins. Quite often two drones of each faction begin combat soon after you spawn in. I let the drones focus on each other and then I take out the survivors. Often after a short delay another two drones from each faction spawn in. Otherwise on this map drones will be chilling below the shanty town and/or over the bridge but these locations are perhaps more difficult to farm.

Also be careful if you are waiting for the second drone spawn because sometimes a bunch of cyborgs will spawn up on that plateau you spawn at instead.
