The Forever Winter

The Forever Winter

the reason for the existence of unkillable enemies? and the stupid auto-detection mechanism of the game
today I have the mission to loot 3 components of T90, I smoothly weaved through a battle of 2 Medium Mechs and dozens of T90 tanks to get what I needed and just as I was about to leave, the robot dog from hundreds of meters away from me somehow detected me and rushed towards me, the horror music played as it approached and I spammed 6 GL clips into it with more perfect accuracy than your mother, it didn't die even though the amount of firepower was enough to destroy 3 EXO armors twice the size of that dog and in the end I was destroyed by it because where I was standing was a flat desert with no place to hide

Well if you had time to put 6 GL clips into it..... It clearly wasnt rushing fast enough.

I do agree that things like these are total bs, ig that's their way to make sure we feel like "bottom of the food chain" no matter how powerful we are.

What if the unkillable is less shoot at it til it dies and more shoot at it til it stop moving and melee it when it "stun" to remove parts from it the Trailer did say that there will be boss enemies where shooting isn't just the answer.
because the game does have Melee takedown.

thats funny.

But ye the giant unkillable mechs and creepy borgs wandering around is actually pretty cool. their not always there on every run, but when they do show up it gives a nice sense of dread that you need to work around.
Easy fix would be to make the enemy have a KO cooldown like MrX in Re2 Remake. Doesnt destroy immersion that a nobody can kill a mega mech but also thats its not gamebreaking the player progression in having the strongest weapon in the game.

same complaint I have; I understand the need for these things to be intimidating and deadly, but if I bring my ol' painless with 600 50 cal rounds I expect to be able to overcome SOME challenges at the very least.

Unkillable are fine, auto detection not so much.
We shouldn't feel powerful enough to go and take down most foes we encouter but the game is far from that feeling.
We are supposed to be scav survivors not a legion of surarmed mercs.
Stealth and run should have more emphase on them, so yeah autodetection or hunters kinda sucks. And i never encountered them though or i did evade them, I've seen your dog and mother courage on Ashen Mesa and got the HK alert but still it doesn't seems fair or fun when it happens. Full stealth run should always be an option.

I feel making things unkillable is just a cheap form of difficulty, and not the right way to facilitate the feeling of helplessness this game is going for. how about making it so that if you want to bring enough ordnance to kill something it's gonna really cost you to do it? like make me REALLY decide if I really want to spend the ammo needed to bring something down, when it wont be easy to replace that ammo.

I don't think these enemies are fully implemented. The ogramech tanking the likes of two medium mechs doesn't make sense, the dog needs a counter, Toothy lacks animations for grabbing NPCs, Mother Courage cannot attack tanks, etc.

I agree and disagree, we should be able to disable some of the "bosses" capabilities in order to flee. But i think the game shouldn't give you the possiblity to have the mindset "yeah if i hoard enough ammos and heal i can kill that massive mecha all by myself".
You bring ammo for a difficult quest, because you might need to defend yourself from a boss not to kill it. For a narrative perspective you should preserve your life at all cost but the game miss that point now.
But i'm for a more hardcore stealth and survival horror gameplay than the focus on shoot and run the game has for now. Permanent character death, no heal during runs, localised damages, slow heal at camp to use all the different playstyle, more diverse but rare ressources for the camp, etc...

It's not just Mother Courage, it seems like no NPCs are currently able to melee attack large enemies. Cyborgs can't attack tanks or Exos and just stand there, Exos and Mediums will just stand there without shooting if they get up in each others' faces, etc.

I think tanks are the exception because they don't have a melee attack (understandably, lol), so they don't get their logic jammed up by TRYING to melee attack and just keep shooting.
