Maybe something is wrong with Steam, and not the game if it's a downloading issue.
Which tells us two things:
- You do not understand how Steam updates games
- You never opened Steam's Downloading window which tells you what's happening during the entire update process (since Valve never fixed the progress tracking in Steam Library window)
There's less of a chance of Steam doing that than that your disk drive is just too damn slow.
Especially if you didn't check what your hardware is doing.
The basic gist of how SteamPipe operated is:
- It downloads the Delta (difference between new and old build) to temp directory
- it rebuilds the game around it by copying old data from installdir to this directory
- it moves the new updated game files in stead of the old ones
In this game the copy operation is what users most struggle with since it's 80+GB and it absolutely demolishes slow drives.
Your lack of reading comprehension is astounding.
Fk all the way off.
no
seems to be a common problem with no apparent fixes other than a fresh install.
tried this, doesn't work
It's the only game I've ever seen do this. Steam downloads everything else just fine.
I agree with Op, the download/install/uninstall/reinstall for this game is too ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ much, 30 hrs in and I'm over this ♥♥♥♥.
Don't @ me saying I don't know how to read steam or install a game, 300+ games in library says you're a fool. No thanks.
While it is thankfully possible to patch these files; downloading a portion then securely extracting, replacing, and re-packaging without having to download the entire pak file; it still requires a lot of time, space, and wear on your SSD if your using one.
Many, many games understand this issue with updating a game and so divide their game into multiple, much smaller paks, Meaning you at most have to patch a gig or two. I do not know why you would resort to a single package. I'm not a game dev so there may well be a reason for it; but it would be a struggle to justify in my mind.
Because splitting files still does this:

And no, it's not Unreal Engine problem:

If the installation takes too long it means your disk is slow, it does not have enough space or your anti malware is needlessly aggressive.
Also changed my review on steam to NEGATIVE because the devs are also ignoring this when I post about it on their discord.
Slow disc? brother it is installed on a brand new SSD. The download is not SLOW it is BUGGED. Stop repeating yourself and reposting bad information, you're clogging up the thread.
