The Forever Winter

The Forever Winter

Developer reaction
I appreciate the dev team giving us an opportunity to get involved early for feedback and data collection, but they are next to nonexistent in replying to these discussions. is that not a bit odd, patch notes are not even given until days after patches post. Maybe no one else minds but there are some things that need to be addressed and the community will revolt.

Well looking at the general quality of topics posted I think anyone could see why they wouldn't want to engage with the steam community.

Agreed. Plus the Discord might have more answer to the questions you're asking OP.

Would you react to a place with posts every 3 minutes, half of them being absolute bonkers?

they focus on the discord

I appreciate all your feedback but the original points still stand, lets be a bit more constructive. maybe they should just start a few sub categories like bug reporting and feedback. but since its just there its clear there is little interest to get info from the steam community that are verified buyers supporting their game. many games have this, i just found it odd there were not. If you do not want "the general quality of topics" you stated then create specific topics. Not to mention, if unnecessary/random feedback is the reason, you should not be selling a product to the public, that's a pretty weak justification. even one man developers do it, give me a break

Devs are incredibly receptive and active on their official discord.

Expecting devs to even bother interacting on the utter cesspit that is the steam discussion board is ridiculous.

i give them a lot of credit but they sell this title on Steam. discord dissolved its game store, but looking thru commentary on steam, very little developer response. unless doing it from personal profiles, not many from their Developer marked profiles. just my observation. do you not post things in steam hoping for developer response to clarify or answer you? I am sure you will say "no" but I do not think that is honest. we all have. not everyone uses discord, silly as that sounds. We as Early access purchasers take it a bit as we are investors, even though steam says EA sales are not to finance development but we all know that is never the case.

edit-UPDATE I looked thru the last page of discussion topics on steam and not one reply from the official dev team. no one from FDS is even a member of the official discord, on moderators, is that not a bit odd? There no interacting with the community at all. Maybe they are working on an FOV slider and shoulder switching?!

There are extremely present in the discord!
They run a Q&A Poll at the moment to answer question in the next YouTube Video! There are a little team, it's normal that patch notes aren't there so fast!
Go to their Discord! Here on steam is not that got environment for constructive feedback!

they are not represented as the developers, only moderators "helping out" you may want to check that member list. Nothing I have said is untrue. Sorry unless they are involved on personal accounts unofficially, which is odd, they are not actually represented except in announcements. there is no discourse between the paying public and the developers on an official level. stop defending this poor practice. we get better feedback from Ubisoft

You really think that Miles and Jeff have the time to go in the discord any time to answer questions? I don´t think so.
Str3tchCassidyTV Oct 3, 2024 @ 5:24pm
they are not present at all or any other FDS staff. I only found this odd since every game in my account has developer replies in discussions, then i found no developers or community managers either in discord, that i was told they are active in. so i mentioned it was just not true. I just find all that odd, and wanted to share it with the community so maybe they would stop looking for developer replies, since they do not participate in any official capacity. I am sure Miles and Jeff are ok people but they are not showing any real presence in their suggested avenues of contact but its just paying customers and coping moderators and fans that feel the need to defend the absence. I only warned it could become an issue and shared my findings with the community I play with. I did not expect so many of you to defend people you do not really know, but its not uncommon on many of these platforms, just like yourself are doing now.

steam forums is always a bad place for feedback. you will get so many different replies here from so many different people you better off doing streams and using in game feedback charts

The perception is fair but as a game developer selling a product on the platform its kinda necessary to listen to those who do not use discord and there is no bug reporting tool plugged in to game. the fact of the matter is the dev team was smart to go EA but they are not presenting themselves as available, listening, and answering to the reporting of issues by customers with at least have some sort of community manager. Mods are rather useless
due to limited knowledge and only tend to defend the devs like fanboys in hopes they get something out of towing the company lines. its just not very transparent. Thats my only point in pointing these facts out. The "Stem forums are crappy" is no dam excuse if selling your game here it keeps the more honest and they are just sliding by now of some key glaring issues right now. I am not defending this perspective any more. FDS should so better, that's all.

dude if you care enough to give feedback to the devs just join their discord.
Baphomeat Oct 4, 2024 @ 12:08pm
Steam discussions are f**king worthless... look at their discord.

Most developers stay away from Steam Discussions because the average steam user has almost nothing useful to say about any game.
