The Forever Winter

The Forever Winter

Low end cpu perf?
Looking for anyone with a cpu close to an i5 8400/9400 ryzen 5 2600x/3600x setup, and wondering if you can play at at least 30fps? is it stuttery? I wanna get the game, I know my cpu is weak, but if I can at least play at 30fps I'm happy enough until I can upgrade.

It doesn't require the minimum specs listed if you're okay with 30fps at 1080p & low/medium details. Game is still pretty. Plenty of threads about potato PCs running the game, if you search the Discord or forums here. It does need optimization badly though, as even the folks with more modern GPUs struggle; there's hoping that once this happens, it'll make life easier for us potato Scavs as well. Worst case, you refund it.

My setup exceeds the recommended specs with a i9-13900K and runs the game around 25 FPS at 1440p - unless I turn on dynamic resolution, which gets me to 50 at the cost of looking almost unplayably awful. YMMV

Yeah I have no problem playing 1080p low settings 30fps until I upgrade if it's possible on my hardware. I'll prob pick it up in a couple days and see how it goes.

I would love to hear about peoples CPU usage percentages during gameplay. I'm running a Ryzen 5 2600X and am thinking about getting this game.

I have rtx 2060 i7 9700k 32gb ram ime able to get between 27fps and 50fps and low settings 1920 -1080p

Just updating for anyone it may help. I have an i5 9400f, Rx7600, 32gb ram at 2666Mhz, installed on a SSD. The game runs way better than I expected. GPU is important, my cpu doesn't even reach 100% usage which is a shock to me. I'm able to play mostly medium settings, with reflections and textures on low, and I get between 45-60fps. No need to even cap it to 30 like I originally though. First few games were chugging, but I imagine it was something to do with shader caching or some other technical stuff I don't fully understand. 2 hours in to playing I'm having a blast, and very happy with performance on my minimal rig.

im playing on coffee lake, 8th gen? i7 8700 non k . the 1080 8 vram is pulling all the load. and the 16 gb ram does nothing . ssd at least allows faster read writes.

cpu wise you are fine, gpu wise, you may only be able to do 30-40fps based on the few vids on youtube i've seen. It's not got a ton of performance vids yet sadly.

The only vid I found using a gtx 1080. For me 30fps is not bad at all considering how early access this game is, and I imagine some optimization in the future, so I think you will be good.

Sorry for the title of the video, it's not mine, and of course the game has not recieved optimizations yet it's extremely early lol.

i get a stable 20-30 FPS with a i7-6800 and an RX480
im gonna try again with lossless scaling once im back home
I played the demo using a I7-9700k 16 gb of ram and a MSI 3070 TI I got around 45-55 fps pretty consistently with drops to 20-30 once in a while at 1080p using med-low settings. As stated before by others the game need optimization pretty badly. The weird thing is The game for me at 1080p seemed to look better with low medium settings than high. Might just be my monitor but the higher the settings the blockier everything looked for me in the demo or could be the full game has better optimization as well.

Graphic card, what type and also how many ram memory you have, then you need to setup your vram memory , a lot of things can help out affects to add a bit of gameplay boost not just processing power of your cpu.

and yeah try the demo first :D

Ryzen 5600x +RTX 4080S. MSI Afterburner shows CPU-usage about 20-40% in the middle of Scorched Enclave.
