The Forever Winter
Rig Tier List
Let's start some constructive discussion about Rigs. What are your favorite rig/character combos? Anything not really useful?

I'll start with:

Early Game:
Shaman + Quest-given Standard Gun-runner
(Not for a specific runs, just the best free rig, but good for general scavving)

Mid-game:
Shaman + Equipment Runner
(General workhorse, great for cash runs)

Later-game:
Bag man + The Rack - for cash/Gacha Box runs in Scorched Enclave
(Once you've got a good LMG+Nade launcher, the single Large box is enough for ammo and light loot + huge heavy item runs)

End-game?
Bag man + I haven't bought the Pack Mule or either Heavy Gunrunner, but I expect those are useful for end-game farming, when you have a cash base and you are just taking elimination quests so looting is just scooping up stuff from kills instead of Heavy Items.

I don't see a lot of utility in the Medium/Enhanced rigs but I expect their whole point is for Old Man/Scav Girl which I don't play much.

For my money, the best rig hands down is the Medium Gunrunner.
If there was a heavy version that wasn't specalized in one thing or another, I'd likely go with that.

The ability to bring a Taccam and still extract a large item, to grab any rare/valuble/disabled gun drops that pop up and have some regular storage space all at once is king to my priorities.

Oh I understand the value of Packmule and Rack, there will be runs where those are the go to options because I want something specific. But missed opportunities bug me, so the generalist pack wins out for me.

Enhanced Gunrunner gets a similar top spot because everyone can use it (though Old Man and Scav Girl need 2 skill ranks IIRC) and it does that job for the most part.

Speaking of: The Heavy Gunrunner with double weapon racks isn't worth it to me. Compared to The Rack and Pack Mule, it gives you by far the least value to take. If it had 3 gun racks (and no bug on the right most one.) I would call that about right design wise.

This is taking into account the likely to change status of bringing destroyed weapons into a run to make them disabled and the rarity of disabled weapon drops. (Along with the UI problem of having full gun racks and thus not being able to discern destroyed from disabled.)

If asked 'design a Rig' I'd likely just stuff one more large slot on the Medium Gunrunner and call it good. That would be 1 gun rack, 3 large item slots and 2 Large Containers. (and I'd love to have a small container space just to even out the weight and squeeze in a bit more stuff.) As gun racks effectively occupy 3 spaces on the grid of a Rig, I'm reasonably sure this fits.

Such a 'Expanded Gunrunner' rig would mean bringing a utility (Turret, Taccam, Rig Light) while having 2 Large slots, 3 gun slots and a solid amount of general space for stuff.

I'd like to thank whoever on the development team decided that rigs themselves wouldn't be lost in the field, only the upgrades for them. It's a lot more of a reasonable 'don't want to lose it but won't rage out over losing it' than that alternative.:raven:
I got a quick question, is it possible to replace a rig slot with a totally different type of storage box, im not referring to the different Quality ones, im referring to switching like a Container Slot to a Broken Weapon Rack slot?

Better yet, will we ever get custom Rig building from scratch?
Started with Old Man until realizing Bag Man doesn't need to skill rigs when I bought my first rig with 3 L open slots for water, gacha and lockboxes.

Bag Man will be the permanent personal favorite of mine due to being fastest while crouching, aside from the ability to use the heaviest weaponry while having a starting HP of 1.5k
