is it infinite or has a story ?

i got a little confused and i'm planning to buy it, but its not very clear if its an online only infinite type of game like helldivers 2 or its something with a campaign that i can play offline and reach a ending

You have to be online but can play solo (90% of people currently play solo), and hire recruits to accompany you during travels. But there is no ending, as it's an eternal war. So, no ending intended so far, it's an endless cycle.

You can be offline, just turn off internet
