Malwarebytes just blocked a "Trojan" from this game?
Anyone know wtf that's about? this is the ONLY game ive experienced this with, and if you take a look at my collection, that's not exactly a small list. i LOVE the Graphics and Artstyle of this game, im TRYING to learn the gameplay loop, but yesterday i got a notification saying Malwarebytes blocked the game due to it wanting to access my internet, ok. makes sense i guess, but now its saying its a TROJAN?! i can provide proof if anyone cares. though im going to censor out my IP Address, of course.

I'm a bit curious what the logs look like, but false positives have existed for a long time and aren't terribly rare with indie games. I've had a number of files marked as trojans over the years when I know they're safe. If you're genuinely concerned then of course you should treat it as a real threat and protect your system. Better safe than sorry.

Yeah, i haven't heard anyone else mention it yet, so i don't THINK the Developer is Malicious, but ive been playing single player anyway, so i guess it doesn't matter a whole lot. but if you want to see proof i could 100% do that, i just don't really know how to protect myself while sharing the info "im not really Tech Savy as far as trojans and that sort of stuff goes, honestly" was hoping the Developer would comment about it though, just to ease my mind a bit if nothing else. or someone else would pop in and say "oh yeah i got that, 100% a false Positive" or whatever lol

Send the log files to Malwarebytes. They have their own forums.

I used to use Malewarebyte & ESET NOD 32.

It sounds like a bug / false positive.

You can take an HIV test and generate a false positive result- the same thing can happen with an antivirus software package.

When you send them the logs, they will update the software. You should try and contact the Forever Winter devs on discord.

Sounds like a Malwarebytes problem.

The thing with Malwarebytes is that they use a heuristic engine. All the software is saying is "xyz software is trying to access the Internet", so Malwarebytes auto-killed its Internet access.

The reason why it killed the Internet access is because it's hyper sensitive to new ... cutting edge programs trying to access the Internet. You have to give it permission to access the Internet... at the same time, if I was a virus writer, I'd want to try and penetrate software that has holes in it, that's why I suggest it's easier to just contact Malwarebytes.
