Remove hunter killer squads
If I'm being super stealthy in the Mech Trenches, hardly getting spotted at all and only looting there shouldn't suddenly be hackerman enemies spawning that track me through walls and constantly spawn in front of me out of thin air while I am trying to disengage and get away from other enemies. I don't mind a challenge and killed 3 or 4 of the MG34 dudes before the one that spawned literally in front of me finally killed me but COME ON. Please invest some time and effort in tweaking this mechanic because it's a huge buzzkill.

Update: Just got killed by a mech Hunter-Killer that shot through the wall of the extract pipe. Nice. https://i.imgur.com/M22r28N.jpeg

Yeah it doesn't seem to make much sense. "Hey, some random guy looted some item in the middle of a warzone. We need to hunt him down!"...
If they have these Hunter Killer forces at their disposal and nearby, why aren't they already engaging their mortal enemy, instead of being on standby to deal with worthless scavengers?

remove the water, remove the hunters, remove the guns and lets all hug each other to death
Robzilla Sep 25, 2024 @ 1:43pm
They're not that bad. Just lure them into enemies or avoid storage containers.

you couldent even figure out the mechanic and crying over it ? when you loot high value items that worth good money hunters will target you as high value target.... so loot if you want and run to exit or just pass it to live what is the problem?

Yeah that'd be great except most of the deep mech trenches are all the same faction, and I'm trying to get quests done in there.

Honestly, I think the Hunter Killer mechanic is really interesting, but needs tweaking or reworking.
So far all I know is, when you loot certain items, or do certain things, you have a tracker put on you, and a Hunter Killer sent after you.

So far the items I think cause this to trigger are Weapon Tech, Gacha Crates, and sometimes Water, people have also said if you loot too many containers, they spawn - I dislike this.

Personally, I agree with another user on the forums on it;
Hunter Killers shouldn't directly chase you, or know exactly where you are, but instead investigate disturbances caused by the player, previously looted areas, kills, gunshots, and gradually tracks the player down.

My twist to this would be; after a set amount of time, the HK should grow more and more aggressive until it finds you, and it's up to you to either run, or fight. I believe you should be allowed to fight the HK, and be rewarded for your bravery, and no more spawn. The battlefield is already crowded, so, it's a death sentence doing it, but, it would be very rewarding to pull it off.

The HK shouldn't really spawn unless there's a very good reason to like killing a VIP/Elite Unit, looting an extremely valuable or rare item, or killing too many NPC's.

As it stands, you can spawn a HK in less than 5 minutes and screw yourself over.

i dont thank any one wants to remove that stuff we just want it to feel more real
AI spawning on you dont feel real
factions going out of there way in WW3 to stop what there doing to go after some low life no name scav is not realistic
if you was getting shot at and fighting some 50 foot tall mech
are you going to go all out on a random scav full stop your team and be like, ♥♥♥♥ that mech we got to stop this scav from getting stuff
i would thank that the guys fighting the war would worry more about fighting the war than coming after lil old me
and the aggro range from gun sounds is unrealistic as well
idk about you but if i was fighting a war with gunfire all around me
im not going to stop what im doing just cause i heard a shot from some scav
from around the way and be like hold up guys lets kill this guy that has nothing to do with the war

I've even had one spawn on me after about 2 minutes in, and all I had done was stand near some loot crates, waiting for the fighting to be over so I could scrounge bodies. In stead I was forced to haul my ass across the map to the extract. Fun times, not. I especially hate their respawn mechanic, they just spawn wherever in close proximity to you as long as it's out of reach. I closed a door to block off some enemies, and half a minute later a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Hunter Killer spawns in there with me. They really shouldn't be spawning this close to the player because generally speaking you're trying to avoid enemies to get to an extract and the spawn system will throw the HK right into your path. They're not even that hard to kill, either, which only makes the mechanic more stupid and annoying.

hmm i never tracked by hunters when i loot gacha crates and water, i tested lots of the time when i loot high value items that worth good money it gives an alert

i disagree about that i can simply wait tanks, exos, choopers, mechs destroy each other and loot them and go to exit with my 400k cash

Interesting, I've been getting a lot of mixed results with Loot triggering it, I'm not sure what exactly causes it, on Ashen Mesa, with my friend, we did nothing but loot Water, and it spawned them, and it happened again on Scorched Enclave, and I've not had it happen since.
Gacha crate might've been bad timing on my part, because my game bugged out real bad at that time.

And yes, waiting is generally what I do, I give it 5 minutes before I start doing my thing, sometimes it works great, others I'm not so lucky.

I dont think they should continuously spawn but maybe just a patrol or something cuz trying to attempt to avoid things and play normally feels odd when they suddenly look for me and everyone else after 30 seconds in. I can deal with the jank, just not these overtuned guys.
50 Feral Hogs Sep 25, 2024 @ 3:30pm
They're honestly my biggest gripe with the game, the water and optimization issues don't even come close. Hunter Killers are a constant thing you have to worry about, but not in the same way that you have to worry about an AI patrol. You see, you have options for dealing with the other types of enemies in this game, and they aren't constantly harassing you.

HK's are a CONSTANT threat that you cannot hide from, and killing them is almost never worth it. The second they show up, your only real option is to book it to extraction, running past everything in the process from cool battles to potentially valuable/quest loot. It makes it so every action you take is dictated by the constant, severe threat of them showing up. This wouldn't be a problem if say, they only showed up when you got a REALLY big head. Like if you stuff your pockets full of sensitive data or bring down multiple elite squads during your raid. THAT would make sense.

What DOESN'T make sense is when you open a musty ass container and shove a box of crusty old 9mm into your pocket, and then moments later have Eurasia's finest airdropping onto you like ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Space Marines. This isn't even mentioning the fact that they know EXACTLY where you are at all times, and can see your ass through every wall and rock you try to hide behind.

As they are, HK's just ruin the gameplay loop. I'm not against an enemy like them existing, but the triggers for them showing up really need to be tweaked.
