The Class system Ruins The Forever Winter.
Class is why I hate this game the most. I mean Hate.
Old white guy, big black guy, mask guy. Fast woman, robot etc.
And have it all look cartoon. It really takes away self expression.

Class = label or group.
You have no individuality as a class. You are just another number.
When you enter a player lobby, you see players that look exactly like you.
But your experiences and personalities are different: And that should show!

When they divide Characters up into arbitrary classes, you're basically doing what Battle Field 2024 did to catch it so much hate. Class systems will always hold a game back from being great. Because it kills imagination. In a game like scavenge a battle field, looter extraction, this sort of player imagination is very important.

Imagine no classes: You character looks and reflects your own choices and experience in the world. Your own personal priorities !
You come across a solider you fight on the battlefield or scavenged, and now you have parts of their armor on your player. Maybe you augmented your Leg with a AI controlled one. Or arm. And now have all kinds of augments repairs to do, and visual looks that reflect that character. Maybe not by choice, you got shot in the hand, and now need a cyborg hand . Maybe it was part of the face, or eye etc. Now you have one red Cyborg eye. etc

All that game-play and uniqueness goes away when you lock players into Classes. The Devs should reflect their ideas of class, not in story or character but in stats or general abilities But dont Lock players into that visually or statistically.

didnt the uhhh all the other battlefield games have classes as well? idk i never played one

that hat collecting game has classes in it as well and its pretty cool

sure you can make classes look "cool" . But a Class, will never be as cool as you can be when left to express yourself, or have your own in game experiences reflect on your player I agrue.

Battlefield in the past you could mix and match endlessly any weapons and abilities. The latest updates to 2042 might have changed that after the player backlash.
They added all sorts of bland cosmetics to cover over the class and racial identities. but its never had that in the past. it was never a focus.

Yes, 2042 got in trouble because they replaced the class system with "heroes." They went back and roughly approximated those heroes into classes after backlash.
The world is full of classes of things so get used to it :steambored:

I think you overdo it a little here. As they already said multiple times, the class system in it's current state is nothing more than a working prototype. Yes, you can't express yourself that much since you can't create another "you", but it gives the devs a better approach of telling a story.

Maybe we get some more information down the road why these specific characters have decided to live as scavs and tell you a story about them in stead of yourself.

I suggest they continue to tell the story through the world environments like they did already . But not the player. when they do the class thing, they are stepping on the players and all the stuff i mentioned. well thats my 2 cents.

1. CCP owns a stake in the game engine (Unreal), the chat platform (Discord), and the multiplayer (Epic)

2. Key messages are that WW3 would be mutually destructive (so do not obstruct CCP ambitions) and materialism is destroying the environment (so reduce industrial output and buy more solar panels to boost CCP economic performance)

3. Eurasia and Euruska are teaming up against Europa which has USA as some minor leftover part - so this is CCP dream come true

4. in woke trailers the only blue-eyed Europans are zombified, wearing eyeshadow, or elderly

5. Old Man is spritely and nimble (like CCP's aging population)

6. Mother Courage is appropriated across from Sweden to Eurasia

7. Europan target audience are conditioned to accept real-life penalties from art-creators

8. Europan target audience are fed morbid grimdark visuals and taught that they are 'not that guy' to make them depressed and have fewer children

So of course there would be a class system. It is Marxism 101 to make the CCP's enemies believe in social classes.

You know, I believe it. I am aware of all of that you listed.. .
I thought maybe in the past this was all just self expression. But it all is connected and part of a bigger real, conspiracy and forced not by natural expression or choice. But manufactured from top down choice or ideas.. Follow the money and spheres of influence and ideology. sure i believe it. And many development studios are part of that. Either by choice, or unaware and manipulated.

I think i'd very much like a customization system like that. Im sure we'll get some kinda of character customization, but the depth of it, i dont know. For now, i think what we got works fine, but i do hope we get customization options that allow us to change at least clothes/armor categories like helmets/hats, bodyarmor/coats, and pants. Furthermore, cybernetics/implants would be awesome, it could open up many opportunities for upgrades and tradeoffs.

Go to Rpg store page and pick a game there, if you want to build your own character.
